I'm not sure that this can really go down as the greatest World Cup of all time as many are proclaiming unless the big teams start playing better. Yes nearly every game has been dramatic but unless something changes you are going to end up with a very weak winner who would have got annihilated by the likes of Spain 2010.

Not the most inspiring of first halves. Surely it can only get better?

If he isn't, it's a good rumor to start

Switzerland were so bad against France they couldn't be as defensively shit again. Hitzfeld must have given them a right rollocking after that.

Still when you have Djourou at back anythings possible.

France used pace, Argentina have adopted the bore them to death through ponderous possession tactic. I'm not sure it is working out too well ...

Can we have that dance bloke back instead please? Mind you, just had a truly horrible image of Lawrenson doing that dance thing in one of his awful shirts I'm sick of his moaning - he's on a well paid junket in Brazil!

Waste of a nice afternoon so far.

Just for a tiny moment then, I thought Lawrenson was going to say Argentina should be more animated in their play; irony of ironies.

Why are you cheering them on if you don't like them?

Probably being too demanding and unreasonable asking for a goal, but how about a few good throw ins?

Argentine keeper thinks the ball is a kipper

That slow motion blown kiss the girls do is starting to look contrived. Are they planted there? They all do the exact same pose

Wonder what the response would be like in Argentina knowing that in the UK a fair few peole want/wouldn't mind Argentina winning the WC even if it is because of Messi. Somehow I can't imagine there would've been cheering in Buenos Aires for Rooney to score the winner in the final!

Naturally, you'll have to factor in the issue that Rooney isn't comparable to Messi.
