What's the German coverage like?

Goal was worthy of winning any final.

Although Argentina had their chances always felt Germany looked dangerous and most likely to score.

Most of their bench would get into a lot of International and club sides which shows the depth those Germans have.

Deserved winners on the night and overall.

I think the pundits are entertaining most of the time. Usually they work in pairs, meaning one ex-footballer and a tv host, the ex-footballers currently being Mehmet Scholl and Oliver Kahn.
Kahn actually seems less excitable than Scholl. Both do irony well though.

The match commentators always get a lot of stick, though I personally don't mind them much. The most memorable quote during a match was for me in the Brazil match, when Oscar scored Brazil's goal to make it 7-1 and the German commentator goes "thank god, i think.... thank god".

Some sites did publish memorable quotes from the German players or commentators. Will see if I can accurately translate them.

German coverage is much better than the English one. That goes for both football and the Olympics.

What is British coverage like? I can't watch the videos on the BBC website because they are only available in the UK.

"Argentina bored itself into the quarter final" (match commentator after Argentina vs. Switzerland)
"The Greek coach had the choice of agony before this game" (Greece vs. Japan)
"Suarez is fixing his teeth" (commentator during the Italy-Uruguay match)
"With teeth like that, it was bound to happen" (Oliver Kahn after the game)
"That Greek player is standing like a tree, you could poke or do whatever you want with him."
"What is Nigeria capable of? We asked in Africa. Nobody knows."
"Suarez is ice-cold. He pees ice cubes." (After Suarez scored the 2nd goal against England)

Some German team quotes:

"You make two sprints and then look for an oxygen tent" (Klose about the heat in Brazil)
"It was like in a barbecue shack. You really start appreciating how fascinating cacti are for surviving this" (Müller after the France game)
"Angela Merkel gave a short speech in the dressing room. She said, since we already made such a long journey [to Brazil], it was nice that we won at least" (Löw after the Portugal game)
"I'll spend the next 3 days in an ice barrel" (Mertesacker after the Algeria game - and he really did, going by pics on his twiiter account)
"We worked our butts off, won the game and that's it. If we play like ballerinas, you'd say we have no [real] men in the team. (Müller after the Algeria game)
"The party beast will awaken within me." (Klose in his typical calm and nonchalant fashion, when asked what he'd do if they win the world cup. Klose is more the type to go to bed early...)

The BBC and ITV share coverage of the tournament with only the final being shown on both channels so there is two sets of coverage
For nearly all matches on both channels there is the presenter and 3 pundits who all ex players( The presenter on the BBC is as well while ITV had four pundits last night)
Each match is commentated by a commentator and his assistant who is usually as ex pro. The Pundits don't tend to be that funny through.
Was ARD coverage presented from Rio or in Germany. Both of ours were done in the studio overlooking the sea in RIO through ITV more and more was presented by the beach as time went on.

You forgot Mertesacker's now legendary comment after the Algeria game when he had a go at the commentator saying "Do you think we were playing a carnivals procession?!" (I think in the semi-final they actually were) The commentator tried to tell him that the Germans must have expected more from themselves and Mertesacker went nuts: "I don't give a damn. Why are you asking me questions?!" (loose translation) It was a funny interview and the ice barrel quote was from there.

Ah, over here ARD and ZDF (both public broadcasters) share the coverage, though the final was only shown on ARD. Yes, the pundits were in Rio at the Copacabana. Or in the stadium itself.
They do occasionally get a third person in there. This time around it was mostly Giovane Elber as a Brazil expert who speaks German fluently. Or Urs Meier to give his opinion on the referees.

That one will forever go down in the history of football interviews.
The German media was collectively pouting afterwards.

I think after the Brazil v Holland 3rd place play off he went mad and said the referee didn't make a single correct decision.

Meier blames Fifa. And Blatter took it personally. Meier was congratulated by one of the German tv hosts, because he has managed to be called names by Blatter. Really got under his skin.

I don't think those comments would be legal here because of the risk of being sued and someone making an unproven accusation can get channels in a lot of trouble with Ofcom.

SSN just doing a report on Germany and saying how great Neuer was for only conceeding 4 goals in the tournament.

Romero had the same record.

I'm not saying that Neuer isn't the best keeper around or that he didn't deserve the Golden Hand but it seemed a strange stat to put emphasis on.

Who was getting booed at the end? Each time the camera panned to one of the committee members there was loud booing
Might have been the woman in green or the bloke, either way I don't know who it was or why

It was Blatter, and the lady wearing green is the Brazilian president who isn't too popular with the locals either.

Yea Blatter isn't anyone's favourite person now for obvious reasons. Qatar being the main one...
