We could do worse, no?

Not that he would leave a rising power in World Football for us. USA have qualified while England watch the telly back home.

That USA team Klinsmann's put together is well organised, every player knows what their job is and they play for the shirt. As I've said elsewhere, the USA have improved while England have gone backwards.

doesnt matter who is manager really, the players arent good enough. Constantly changing the manager wont make a difference.

I think he loves living in the US and has turned down good jobs in favour of staying there. I think he'd do a good job though.

Jorge Luis Pinto

If you're just going to list names of managers of teams that did better than England.

I'll do the dishes and then get right on that!

Yeah, this. I wouldn't be surprised if he became a naturalised US citizen.

Good shout. We missed a trick there. 50 now. But a young looking 50.

Jurgen Klinsmann will be Tottenham manager by Christmas.

He can't do much worse than Hodgson is doing tbh.

all the sensible managers would not touch the England job with a barge pole!

The manager isn't the issue. The pool of talent is. It's the biggest problem and it's grown year on year and shows no signs of improvement. For all the quality moments the Premier League has given us, if it's international football you're interested in, it's been decimated by the PL. We have one of the (if not the) lowest ratios of English players in our league compared to home nationalities in the leagues of other major European footballing countries. That's indictment enough.

There's loads of factors (although pool of talent is probably the biggest problem) I think the coaching isn't good enough either. Those England players were good enough to get out of the group but they failed. Didn't seem as well drilled unlike some other countries with players playing in even lower leagues.

I wouldn't want another foreigner, but he has done very well for both Germany and USA with very little experience in club management. I wish England would gamble on someone of a similar ilk.

Chile, Greece, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Switzerland, Nigeria, USA and Algeria have all progressed further than England. Are we really saying we don't have as much talent as those nations?

It's not the manager, it's the players and always will be. England players are just not that skilful, and never really have been.

You have to ask why top foreign clubs don't really go for English players, it's not really the price, they just are simply not that special.

No manager in the World could improve England, and even the youth that are coming through are not that special, so the situation isn't going to change in the near future, take off the blinkers and just see England for what they are.

You can't really blame the manger for the lack of skill shown by the England players. Are we saying these very well paid players who week in week out play well in the PL, need to be shown how to shoot, pass and defend once they put on a England top. Yes the Manger can be blamed for tactics and not choosing the right players.

But at the end of the day, if the players just don't care and won't try, there's not much we can do, except sack them all, and find some players willing to "fight" for their national team.

I think Klinsmann would be a good choice.

A good manager with average players can make a much bigger difference than a crap manager with average players.

It was surreal seeing Klinsmann singing the US national anthem against Germany.

Safe to say he isn't returning home anytime soon, so in that case, The FA should send out a telex to him.

I wouldn't mind seeing him singing our national anthem!!

Actually the equivalent to klinsmann would be shearer, maybe?

Shearer would be a good shout, i think.

Its probably a load of BS, but Talksport are reporting that Galatasaray are after Klinsmann.

That sounds a lot more plausible than Galatasaray being after Moyes.

I don't think so. Shearer isn't really management material, unlike Klinsmann. Not all good players make good managers.

Gary Nevile is a much better bet as a future England manager.

If we were to go for someone with little or no experience, I would definitely go for Neville over Shearer.

To be honest, if Hodgson does make a poor start to the euro qualifiers and ends up being fired, I think Neville would almost certainly be one of the front runners to take over.

Maybe we do need someone young and fresh. For several years now the England job has been a kind of semi-retirement role for older managers. The last decent young(ish) manager we had was Hoddle, but he did have club management experience.

He's certainly picked up the American accent.

Not to mention Spain, Portugal and Italy have been knocked out with us.
