The way the press keep asking Andy Murray about English football, they must think he's an expert so why not make him England's next manager?

Yes - but I felt he and others were quite complacent about the other teams.

Uruguay weren't great but they did have that world class player we don't have and against Italy our fitness let us down when we needed it most.

Ok I don't think anyone expected Costa Rica to do what they did.

You seem to have very unrealistic expectations.

Our group contained Italy, who we haven't beaten in a competitive match since the 1970s, and Uruguay, who we have never beaten in a competitive match. In this World Cup we lost to two teams who are better than us and maintained our poor record against the better international sides. In short, Roy Hodgson did no worse than any of his predecessors.

If you think Harry Redknapp is capable of achieving things that far better managers have failed to do you are deluded.

We are not a major force in international football and haven't been for 50 years. We failed to get out of our group because our players are not good enough and haven't been for a very, very long time.

It's not just about losing to better teams though, is it? Mexico, Chile, Algeria, USA, Switzerland all lost to better teams, but... you could see that their managers had clear game plans against their opposition, that they changed tactics depending on who they played, that they had structure to their game and were even unlucky to lose some of those games. There is hope that those teams will be even better in future. Neither team had better individual players than England, but every single one of them had a better manager. I simply cannot accept that England was unprepared to deal with Pirlo and Suarez when it is no secret that both are world class players. There was no structure to England's game and the manager did not have the ability to change tactics at half time when he could see in both matches things were going wrong. Plus, he should have had the guts to put Gerrard and Rooney on the bench.

Good grief; imagine Murray's half time team talks!

Best hope now is that Roy can get rid of the dead wood and get these young guns playing as a team and playing well in international games.
