I was recently prompted to install updated firmware on my LG Smart TV.

The model number of my telly is 32LA620V and the firmware release was Ver.04.24.33

However, I've tried to find some release notes to find out what was included or fixed, but with no success! Has anyone else recently downloaded this firmware, and if so do you know what was actually updated?

I don't know why people keep asking these questions all the time?, generally they don't release what it's for, and it's almost always just bug fixes - which might even fix issues you didn't even know you had (such as a teletext font problem in some country you've never heard of).

'Mostly' the only change you'll see is the change in the software version number - VERY occasionally you might get an extra function or two, but it's pretty rare.

Maybe we ask because we would like to know the answer? Just a thought.

Generally release notes accompany a new version of software so I just wondered if such a thing existed for LG firmware updates.

Is this the first time you've updated firmware on a TV, OP? TV manufacturers rarely issue release notes, because as Nigel said, it could be for anything, and it would be totally meaningless to us punters.

The only way you could find out, would either be a long and difficult path by several search engines, with no guarantee of success, or by trying to find an LG owners thread for your TV, in this case the LA620V, in one of the AV forums.

Sometimes though manufacturers are forced to bring out updates, and everybody knows what for, as in the case of LG last year when customers found out that LG were secretly uploading stats of their TV viewing habits via the net, storing them for LG's use, and selling the stats to network advertisers, who were then tailoring regional adverts based on the viewing habits.

This story went global, caused a media outcry, and LG were forced to release firmware updates across nearly all their TV range, to pacify hundreds of thousands of irate customers all round the world.

I had that update yesterday which seems to has added 'connected red button' functionality. (Although thinking about it I haven't updated for a while so that may not be new...)
