You are not, it was a foul kick.

Should have been retaken, but that would of course never happen to the hosts and their golden boy
I thought that too. It has to be a continuous run up to make it fair but that seems to have changed because I've seen others do it.

A team getting favours wouldn't have seen Hulk's goal be disallowed.

That last Chile penalty was literally two inches from being a great penalty
2 inches lower in normal time, 2 inches to the left in the shoot-out....football can be a cruel game at times.

Brazil got away with that for me. Credit to Neymar, the kid has nerves of steel. Mine are shot after watching that.

I may have rose-tinted specs but I think the 82 side was much better than this one.

Colombia for me too. Really want them to win for obvious reasons.

Brazil are just not good enough to win the world cup. Hopefully, Colombia will batter them.

Pressure cooker ending! Happy Brazil have progressed but will have to play better. Chile very unlucky to go out, Brazil just kept on going and deserve the victory.

"If Brazil can hit form, the other teams should be worried."

They've had nearly 4 and a half matches and they're still shit. Give me a break.
Holland or Germany would seriously hurt them I think. Neymar was cool for the shoot out but anonymous in the game.

I have seen this so often happen in recent times, that I wondered whether the no stopping on the run-up to a penalty rule had been removed. I really wish this was enforced, because that kick today shouldn't have stood and should have been taken again. Still, yeah, hosts and all that jazz.

You are allowed to stutter your run.

Brazil are shit, don't deserve to go through. Colombia to win tonight and I fancy them knocking Brazil out too.

Chile were outstanding again, Sanhez was the best player on the pitch and Diaz was brilliant in the middle. They were my dark horses before the tournament started, such a shame they were on this side of the draw. Love their high pressing game.

He shouldn't have taken Vidal off - regular penalty taker for Juve.

I have no problem with hesitating the run up. It's all about trying to outwit the keeper. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. The keeper is allowed to do what he wants to put off the kicker so it works both ways.

agreed , the keeper is meant to stay on his line until the kick is taken , not many do but that almost never gets pulled up either

No I don't think you have rose tinted specs. The 1982 Brazil squad is widely regarded as one of its best of all time. What with the likes of Zico, Falcao, and Socrates amongst others.
The Brazil 1982 team would take some beating. No disrespect to the current squad.

It's no coincidence our only World Cup win came in our own back yard. Home advantage is the key to Brazil winning this thing as they are a very ordinary team with one standout player.

Neymar definitely wins the games for them up front, but they'd struggle even more without Thiago Silva at the back.

The omens are incredibly bad for Brazil by the way. No host nation has ever been involved in a penalty shoot out at the last 16 stage and no team who has ever won a last 16 shoot out has ever won a tournament (indeed five out of six were eliminated at the quarter final stage).

Brazil are unlucky that they host the World Cup with this particular squad of players. Imagine if it was in the days of Ronaldo and Rivaldo.

Worst Brazil team ever I would say. I can never remember one as bad as this.

Nope, those specs are crystal clear. The BBC stat that this was the worst passing accuracy of a Brazil side since 1966 or something says it all. Chile played very, very well but Brazil helped by giving them the ball so often and Neymar alone had two excellent chances to score which he wasted by being greedy.

I do like him and he showed incredible nerve to score his pen, but in terms of benefit to the team there were at least three players in the 82 side that were better than Neymar. And it's a huge problem that Brazil rely so much on him. Having said that, after their luck today maybe they are fated to do better than 82 (if they get to the semi-final they will do) and maybe even win the thing.

Sometimes I want to steal the Tardis just to go back in time and tell the 82 Brazilian defence to make sure they crock Rossi in the first five minutes...
