Colombia v Uruguay 28/06 ITV 9pm KO
An impressive Colombia take on a Suarez-less Uruguay.
Obtain pleasure from the charade! |

I've been impressed by Colombia so far, they should be too strong for Uruguay, my prediction, 2-0 Colombia. Uruguay might be somewhat edentulous without their star player I feel, though they have one or two nippy players I feel when it comes to the crunch they will lack the bite needed to progress to the next round. Hopefully it's a game to savour, after the appetiser earlier in the evening.

James Rodriguez, player of the tournament so far for me. Hope Colombia win and set up a quarter final with Brazil.

Brazil/Chile v Colombia would be a cracking quarter final in terms of attacking quality.

As Suarez has gone will Uruguay try putting Hernandez on?
I've just had a look at some stats and although Hernandez is more inexperienced and only has 13 caps, his goal percentage is similar to Suarez. 13 caps and 7 goals. Percentage wise that's slightly better than Suarez. But obviously I'm aware that it isn't as simple as that due to a lack of World Cup experience. So I'd be interested to see this Hernandez feller have a go. They may as well give him a go so that he gets some experience on this stage. I also wouldn't count Uruguay out because we've already seen how some teams can look better than they maybe are due to the opposition being weaker. Columbia had a piss easy group and some might argue that Uruguay were in a much tougher group to get out of. I know that a lot has been said of some teams that they are reliant on their star player, but in many cases their star players have only come to life on occasion, so you'd have to conclude from that that those teams must have done an okay job of preventing their opponents from scoring goals against them. Obviously I'm aware that Uruguay had a terrible match against Costa Rica in their opening game there they let 3 go past them, but Uruguay only let in 1 goal from both the Italy and England matches they won. So although Columbia look to be very good and can score goals, you have to consider the opposition they were playing against. I wouldn't underestimate Uruguay because they usually somehow find a way to compete. I can see it being a tough match. |

I was rooting Uruguay based on having a Brazil-Uruguay final bet, but now they're on the same side of the draw balls to them. Colombia have been a lot of fun to watch so far.

I have got feeling that Uruguay are going to do something really stupid like boycott the match or walk of mid way through. It feels like they really angry with FIFA and don't care about the consequences of doing something so radical.
Or walk out at the start of the match with pictures of Luis for example as an act of protest. |

It won't surprise me if their players come out wearing shirts in defence of Suarez.

I have money on Uruguay, but I won't be too disappointed if they go out after their ludicrous attitude to the Suarez ban.
Having said that, I think it could work either way. They could come out like a wounded lion and give Colombia a really hard time, or they could meekly capitulate and lose easily. Knowing Uruguay from the past, the former is more likely. Prepare for some nasty stuff, the ref is going to be busy. |

funny the way things turn out. As a Pool fan I really wanted to see Suarez at the world cup then it looked as if they would nt qualify, but they got through the play offs, then this crap.

I think the outcome of this match may depend on how Uruguay have responded to Suarez being sent home.
Will we see a Uruguay who are still in a state of shock over Suarez and accordingly fall into disarray on the pitch - or who have formed a siege mentality over what they see as an injustice and play with extra determination and effort to succeed? Either way, I still think Colombia will have too much quality for them. |

worried if Colombia get a couple of goals ahead that we could see Uruguay reverting to the Uruguay of old
james rodriguez could have a big target on his back in this game |
