Cahill was in the box, but a high ball coming over your shoulder is harder to volley than Rodriguez' one

Its OK banging em in from 20 yards during the World Cup, but can he do it on a wet Tuesday night at Stoke?

Until then, he'll never fulfil his potential.

They remind me of Belgium in that both teams are packed with promising young talent. Difference is Belgium haven't looked good as a team whereas Colombia do.

That's true actually, so my team for the rest of the tournament is sorted. I think they can beat Brazil next too.”

I have some Colombian coffee. And damn fine coffee it is, too.

What about Muller from Germany, he is also having a cracker of a tournament, he cannot be discounted as a top class player!

..I don't think he has been.

Uruguay had better score, because Columbia will probably get another going by their strike rate this tournament.

Vital interception that.

Uruguay might come alive in the 2nd half, as they need to.

Largely dull first half which was lifted by that Rodriguez wondergoal.

Match needed that too as it put an abrupt halt to the pre-determined Uruguayan gameplan of sitting deep and trying to steal a winner in the final 15 minutes and forced them to come out - which they were doing reasonably effectively at the end of that half.

Worth reflecting, incidentally, that England would have probably been involved in this match had we qualified - so perhaps it was better that we didn't as Colombia may well have taken us apart.

Looking back Cahill's shot was well into the area, his technique was flawless to latch onto the cross though. Rodriguez with the added chest control and the impressive distance he struck it from tips the balance fro me. Both stunning volleyed shots.

James Rodriguez, player of the tournament so far.

Interesting match.
Pretty even really.

Columbia had easier opponents in the groups stage and whipped the goals in, Uruguay had a very tough group and are battle hardened.
So I think things are evened out a lot more.
But I'd still reckon that Columbia should win this even though Uruguay can be dangerous.

I bet the phone belonging to Rodriguez's Agent is melting down around now. The fax machine is probably done for as well.

Not too much for Columbia to worry about in that half. Uruguay need to shift the gear-stick from neutral to 2nd or even 3rd. Either that or they can prep the jet.

An intriguing match so far albeit without the excitement of the earlier encounter today. Wonderful goal from Rodriguez, and I thought Uruguay responded well to it. All set up nicely for a good second half.

Jimmy Rodriguez looks like a "natural" Ronaldo

(Ie no make up, hair gel, deep suntan, etc)

The more replays I see of that goal the better it gets. Just stunning.

Only one of those cities has been named the next European City of Culture. Mark Hughes is dotting the i's and crossing the t's on the contract as we speak.

Nothing wrong with that corner, it's clever play.

Columbia would be rubbish if they didn't have a star player like Rodriguez.

Is Chiles right??

James goal is surely better than Cahill? Not sure, its pretty close, but its not a given.
