Use more than one handset with DECT phone?

I have a Gigaset S79H (quite old) with 2 handsets. My wife and I would like to be able to use both handsets when making external calls to family etc so that we can both hear and contribute to the conversation. Surely this must be possible with these "advanced phones"? (I can't say I've ever been impressed with them). If someone can advise that would be helpful.

This seems like a "no brainer" to me, so if this is not possible I suggest we lobby Apple to produce something suitable for the 21st century!

On a modern DECT phone you can have two phones in a conference call to an outside line. Since you have an old phone it may not do this, the easiest way to find out is try it.

No need to produce something special for the 21st century it is already here.

Gigaset S79H looks to be the additional handset, the S795 looks to be the main unit, if this is correct page 58/59 explains 3 way/conference calls

If none of the above applies and your phones(s) are not compatible to 3way calling, check to see if it has a speaker phone, obviously you'll both have to be in close proximity to use this feature.

Thanks Deacon/Bobcar.

I've tried the instructions for the S795, but get a "Not possible" message. So my phone seems not compatible with this.

But I won't be upgrading as I don't think these phones are well made or well designed and don't provide good value for money. I'll just have to wait for Apple to produce something good one day!

Why?, Apple is nothing but overpriced restricted tat

Buy a modern Panasonic one now, does everything you want (and lots more).

Panasonic isn't restricted?

I had a Panasonic before the Siemens ~ cheap plastic and poor ergonomics (as is the Siemens) and it didn't last long (one button sticks on the Siemens and can I read the numbers in low light?).

Mobile phones used to be rubbish, most people knew they were rubbish but we had to put up with them. Along comes Apple and changes the ball game completely ~ nowadays we have beautifully made, robust and user friendly mobile/smart phones.

Now we need the same to happen for land line phones (not necessarily by Apple).

Mobile phones were fine long before Apple, with many still working perfectly - Apple on the other hand are cheaply made in Chinese sweat shops (as are probably all others these days).

I've got Panasonic triple set at the moment, got to be five years old at least, they do 3 way calling/internal group calls etc etc...

You're way behind the times OP! I've got a BT Domus twin set from 2009 with OLED screen, SIM card reader, internal calls, transfer external calls, 3-way conference calls and SMS texting. For some reason it always attracts poor reviews, but I think it's bloody marvellous.

Whatever iPhones are they are NOT cheaply made!! Of all the mobile phones I have had the IPhone is the most solid, best built and manages to exude quality!

Plenty of duff ones around - most people I know who had iPhones have moved to Android because of reliability problems.

Still, some people love Apple, their choice
