Only you can answer this really.

Are you embedded into the apple ecosystem? Do you have any purchases from iTunes and have you bought loads of apps?

Would you like to customize your phone and use different launchers to make the phone look different?

As i said no-one can really advise apart from saying on a personal view i'd go for the m8, but that's just me

The HTC One M8 is a fantastic phone. It is as customisable as any other Android phone. You can download many different types of launcher for instance, you can even make it look like Windows Phone 8 if you want. Go and have a look in a phone shop and see what you think.

Yes you can customize the m8. They are quite a few launchers you could try, this is one

and this is some of the themes people have

Your imagination is the only limit to how you want your phone to look.

Here's a review of the m8, it looks a stunning piece of kit

Wow they all suck, get an M8 and keep Sense 6.0 or Nova launcher. Don't make your phone look tacky.

I'm an Iphone user so I'd say hold off for an iphone 6, should be great especially seeing as the screen size will be on par with Android phones. Also you have an iPad and Apple apps so it would also make sense for you to stick with the Apple ecosystem.

My 2 cents

If you want a change from the iPhone I highly recommend giving android a chance. I moved to android about 5 years ago for the same reason and now iPhones just seem so basic in comparison, I literally get bored within minutes when using one!

You really wouldn't be disappointed with either the S5 or M8, they're both incredible phones and both have outstanding UIs so you wouldn't have to install a launcher if you didn't want to.

The best thing to do would be to go into a shop and use each phone to weigh up which would be better for you.

Screen on par with the dpi ok Android phones from 2012 if rumours are true. You get considerably more phone for your money with any Android flagship.

Also don't worry about syncing your iTunes to an Android phone as there are apps you can get to sync it even over wireless (inc playlists and artwork).
