EE: Drag Queen storyline?
Coddlet
27-06-2014
I was thinking there should be a drag queen storyline, I know coronation street briefly did with Audrey's partner but it was pretty much for comical value.

I would actually like a serious storyline about someone being a drag queen in secret and maybe over the course of the storyline builds enough confidence to reveal all to family and friends (big explosive Christmas storyline). Think this would be a really intriguing different story!

Stupid idea or potential storyline?

No i think its a good idea if the correct character is used. T

and we all know it should be Terry

I don't know!

There could be potential in it, maybe Alfie could earn money for Kat and the twins. He looked great dressed up earlier in the week and made me laugh out loud. Maybe he could sing 'I'm Your Man' while in drag!

It'd be a fun story for me anyway!

Yeah! He and Alfie were brilliant dressed up the other day and it would make a great story line and I was going to mention Terry in my post but I didn't because he's leaving!

Sharon and Phil go for a shopping trip "up West". On their way home, Sharon persuades a reluctant Phil to pop into Soho for a quick drink. As they get their drinks and find a table, Phil's mild annoyance turns to horror when he realises the drag act peforming Lady Gaga's "LoveGame" on the stage is in fact Ben.

Just picture Phil's face, would be a classic.

I think it would work with Jay. He could be a straight guy who happens to like womens clothes.

This is what I want so much from the new Ben. Its exactly what the son of Phil should be after the mess they made of him last time! The material it would give will keep Phil busy for years.

They really didn't make enough of Phil's discomfort with Ben's sexuality. It had the potential to be a great storyline but it seems like they chickened out of it for some reason?

They've certainly made up for that with Linda & Johnny though!

They should rope in Jason Donovan for this storyline...

I think a drag queen would be a great addition for ee, someone who is initially bitchy but who has a sensitive side. I really enjoyed that one off thing Sean Bean did when he was in drag, if Easties did something similar (without the murder) I think it could be really good. Other would need to get a really good actor in to play the role mind you.

Yes it was and Beany boy surprised me because it was not a role I ever expected him to play.

There is actually a lot of potential with a drag queen or a transvestite that I don't feel has ever been explored to its full potential. they choose to out themselves out in public and show who they truly are despite the fact they are opening themselves up to ridicule (by small minded people)

Just for the sake of it?

If you read what the OP has said, he has suggested that it could be a really serious storyline. And he is right, if they did it right it could be amazing. It's not simply a case that a man likes wearing tights and putting bit of lippy on. exploring the inner emotions of that individual and the effect that they have on other members of their family could be really entertaining.

There is a similar storyline on Orange is the New Black, a character on there had an operation from male to female and it has shown the effects the op had on the mans wife. I am just finishing the first season so I don't know how it carries on.

With EE they could really go with a storyline like this, yes a Drag Queen is different to a transexual but I do feel characters like this could be good for EE.
