I don't understand this at all, they've even qualified through possibly the toughest group. Is Suarez really that influential?

They are obviously weaker without Suarez, personally I would have expected them to do well with him in form, 28/1 seems rather long odds for the current Copa America champions to win a World Cup on their own continent.

This is because without suarez who was the difference between victory and defeat against the woeful england they will be ripped apart by columbia

It's a bit strange because they were shorter odds than 40/1 before a ball was kicked and Suarez was doubtful to even play. But odds are obviously calculated on where the money is going, and there appears to have been some heavy bets on France..their odds have halved since I last checked. Probably little market interest in Uruguay any more.

Well if you believe Redknapp and co they are nothing more than a pub side without Suarez.

Ok he didn't quite say that but the view was none of their other players would get into Premier league teams or the England side.

Cavani I wouldn't get into a prem team? Really?

I guess he'll have to stay at PSG then.

not saying he isn't a decent player but he was pretty anonymous in all of Uruguay's group games

You could say the same about most of the premier league players in this World Cup, so far.

I doubt Man U would be interested in the French leagues 2nd highest scorer if he was prem quality.

as I said not saying he isn't a decent player but from what hes shown in their three games so far I wouldn't be holding out a lot of hope of him carrying the team in Suarez's absence that's all

Maybe, but I was replying to Mark Fs post about none of them getting into the Premier League.Which is a bit a bit ridiculous.

I have this feeling that Uruguay wont even finish the match tonight. They seem angry enough with fifa to do something stupid that boycotting the match or walking off mid match.

despite how delusional their reaction to the suarez situation has been i'm not sure they would be that stupid, fifa would hit them with a massive fine because of lost TV & advertising revenues

I honestly think they wouldn't care. They would just withdrew from FIfa and refuse to pay any fines until it goes to court.
Maybe they will walk of at 83 minutes which was the minute where the bite happened I think,

its one thing trying to defend one of your players but they would be playing with the future of football at international level for their country for the foreseeable future if they did something like that and I just don't think they would risk that

stranger things have happened tho

Its like Brazil without Naymar and Argentina without Messi, still a decent team but minus a lot of the goal threat.

The paranoia and victim mentality of the Uruguay team/management really needs to stop now.

That's what I think as well. I wouldn't want to be facing Uruguay tonight, they don't take any prisoners at the best of times.

Sorry Redknapp did say he was a decent player but generally was quite dismissive of both them and Italy.

How many of our players would they want...

Anyway maybe Uruguay will be so determined to prove they can win without Suarez and use their sense of injustice to get a result.
