Buying an ipad new or second hand

Any tips on this? I'm looking into getting an ipad because some of the work software I use is only on ios. I want one that isn't too old but I have a tight budget so would consider buying second hand. What might I expect to pay?

Hmm not sure I'd want a mini having already got a phone with a 5" display.

7.9in screen on a mini, that's quite a big step up in screen area over 5in.
Entry level model currently £200 on amazon.

Apple Refurb Store, http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/specialdeals/ipad i have bought Macs from there before you could not tell they were not brand new apart from the box not being the same as you would get with a brand new one.

If I put my 5" nexus 5 alongside my iPad mini 2, I can see that the phone is the same height (when the ipad is in landscape orientation), but the screen is now about 3x wider. Don't kid yourself that there isn't much difference, the difference is enormous, otherwise everyone would be carrying 6"+ phones! but they don't because they're huge.

You should be able to bag a mini 2 with retina for £200 or thereabouts second hand, I'd definitely recommend this over the original mini which is slower and has a crap screen.

Here are few tips

Ask About Warranties and Returns:- Although most used tablets will not be covered by warranties, some may be new enough to still be covered by the original manufacturer’s guarantee.

Is the Serial Number in Place? :-Although not all items have a serial number on display, it is always best to make sure that those used tablets that do typically have serial numbers still have these numbers in place.

Take a Closer Look at the Tablet :-Once a buyer finds the perfect used tablet, he should take a closer look at the item. Ask the seller about any performance issues, as well as the charge-holding capacity of the battery.”

Welcome to DS, but why are you bumping a thread that's over 2 months old?
