There appears to be a major UK wide BT network issue at the moment, reports of total loss of connectivity or routing to various websites. Has anyone any definite information?

Glad its not just me. Only a handful of websites load. I came on here via my phone to see if anyone else has had issues.

I messed around for ages this morning resetting the home hub and firewall settings etc.

I get broadband, but only Google, BBC and a couple of other sites work. On other sites I get a message of no connection to the network.

Same here. Glad it's not just me. Some sites not found at all, some not loading properly, others appear to be working fine.

Apparently there was a massive DNS problem affecting the whole country and making only a tiny number of websites accessible but it seems to have now been fixed, which has made a few people wonder whether this was part of an upgrade at BT's end that they couldn't be bothered to tell us about.

As I said in the thread I made, though, this has acted in my favour because it's made up my mind to go with Sky when my BT contract runs out in a couple of months.

Issue seems fixed now. I called BT at 9am when the issue started, they said it was all my fault and the fact that 6 devices connected to BT infinity went down was just purely coincidence....

Good to see the fact they topped the Ofcom customer complaints list hasn't changed their approach to these things in any way, isn't it?

BT are bound to top the complaints list given their size compared to Sky, I've had BT broadband since 2001, today's outage was a biggie but I doubt I've had more than a few hours outage in all that time, god luck with getting a better uptime with Sky.

Given that it's happened on a Saturday morning my guess would be a change that's gone wrong calling for blackout which would take an hour or two.

I agree, I have been with BT since I have been on the internet, a good few years now (mid 1990s) and the number of times I have not been able to access it because of a BT fault is very rare. Today's outage was an exception. BT have always given me both for my phone and internet a very reliable service.

I too had problems this morning thinking it was my Hudl. I could get to my emails O.K and Google search, You Tube etc, Skype, but not EBay,weather channel. It kept saying no connection.

Things seem back to normal except for the EBay App,but strangely if I do a Google search I can access it. Just gone back to the EBay App and it is working.

My first thought was to ring Tesco, who advised me to do a reset, as he asked if I had done anything different, or added another App. Yesterday for the 1st time I connected my Hurl to my laptop, so thought that might have made these issues this morning.

Tesco did say it could be the with my Broadband connection, but as I was getting other things to work OK, that did not seem to me to be the problem. So I did not ring them.

Have BT given the reason for these problems today? I have had my Hudl since last January, and never had a problem with this BT connection.

I do agree with Caxton too, as it is very rarily I have had any problems all the years I have been with them. Their customer service has always been very helpful, Henze why I am still with them.
By the way I do not work with them or have any shares with them.

Do you want to know THE best bit?! He told me that BT have a special department that deals with Infinity outages that the tech team is unable to help with. Wanna know the ONLY way to contact them? By filling in a form ONLINE to request a callback... Yup... He suggested I go to a library to fill in the form that way...

I've been with BT for 3 weeks and had none stop issues. Waiting times to talk to someone is 20+ minutes, you end up going round and round in circles with automated voice things... I end up just saying "leaving BT"... that way you speak to someone instantly. And ALL of the advisors I've spoken to have been utterly clueless.

I regret going to BT, and I cannot wait until I can move back to Sky.

Emailing the CEO + whoever heads BT Retail works well for serious issues that have persisted for a while.

I had a friend who was left with no internet or phone thanks to a totally botched migration between Sky and BT (BT was supposed to handle everything for him, that easy switch rubbish) - it got to the point where BT had installed the fibre modem and got it working, and then it stopped again. Because BT had decided to cancel the order.

Emailing the CEO and head of BT Retail got things moving quickly. I don't know what compensation he's got yet, but he should get some (he's currently out of pocket, paying Sky for a service he can't use as they don't think he has migrated)

He does realise how compensation works right? He might be owed £10 max.
