Huge BT Broadband nationwide DNS problem
If you're a BT Broadband user and you're reading this, the chances are you've done what I've done and switched your DNS settings to that of Google's Public DNS because there's currently a massive DNS problem affecting BT Broadband across the whole country - meaning that the majority of websites (such as this one and BT's own) are completely inaccessible.
It won't surprise you to learn that BT are either a) denying the problem is theirs and b) quoting their usual duration of four hours for it to be fixed, so it's nice to know that coming top of the most complaints table hasn't changed their outlook on these things one iota. Have to say, though, that I'm quite pleased by this outage because I was undecided about whether to stay with BT or go to Sky when my contract expires in August but this has made up my mind completely. Thanks BT! |

I changed my DNS to settings to the google's DNS like you said but still had problems. Everything is OK now though.
I will never switch from BT unless something drastic happens. Of all the ISP's I know they have have the least problems, the connection is the most responsive by far and they don't spam you with offers. It is extremely rare that the service is not 100%. The internet goes down for 10 mins in the middle of the night once every three months I think I can just about put up with that. |

Thanks BT! I've got a good mate who is counting down the days until his Sky Fibre contract is up and he can go back to BT Infinity. |

Why make a new thread and post exactly what you've just said in the other one?

Good luck with that! Hopefully you won't be blighted by the massive congestion problems Sky continue to experience on both their fibre and copper broadband services. Throughput at less than half the sync speed etc. The grass isn't always greener!
I wonder if anyone out there actually gives impartial reviews of broadband suppliers. |

I posted this first, then I saw that more people were posting in the other one so I went there instead.
Is it any wonder people don't switch broadband supplier when they're subjected to scaremongering like this? I wonder if anyone out there actually gives impartial reviews of broadband suppliers. Their customer service leaves a bit to be desired though. I'm entitled to give advice on different providers if I want. If they were all the same no one would switch would they? |
