LG 4k 55" Motion blur.
Hi, does anybody know how to eliminate motion blur which occurs whilst watching sport mainly. I have tried the motion blur setting but can't get the value right.
Is there any other way to eliminate this blur? Thanks in advance. |

buy a plasma that has near 100% motion resolution ?
no seriously, sometimes picture frame correction settings can help as well as reducing the sharpness. I dont know what LG will call it but it may be there. Many people have the TV too sharp and this amplify the effect of motion blur. Also its just the nature of LCD screens. |

Whilst concurring that plasma would be best
(damn Panasonic for stopping production ) I would suggest having a check at AV Forums and see if there is an owners' thread for your LG - they often have people's preferred settings which might help you

First thing I would do is go into the Picture Settings menu and find anything with the word Dynamic in the title and turn that setting OFF. In my experience all these dynamic settings do is knacker the quality. I have yet to see any improvement to anything having them on.

You paid £1500 min for a 4K TV and it's got motion blur? Take it back and get another.

Is there any other way to eliminate this blur? Thanks in advance. Both have 1000Hz processing rate but the LA series has 200Hz motion rate, the UB series only 100Hz, no idea if this would have any bearing on the matter, but more importantly - The LA series does not have current 4k standards so I'd return it regardless of the motion blur I've heard reports that the 2014 model Samsung have motion blur issues, this has been put down to low processing rates, not heard anything about the new model LG 4k TV's. If you have the UB55 series then the thread hear may help you decide what to do.... http://www.avforums.com/threads/4k-l...b950v.1878217/ |

Picture is good on normal Television from sky hd box. But on football when you have a close up of a footballer running it is blurry around his head outline. Also when watching tennis, the ball is very blurry!!
Never noticed it with my 8 year old samsung 40" LCD! |

Bigger set, same resolution pictures, easier to see the defects.
There's only so far you can stretch an image before it looks bad. |

It's either faulty or the technology in that model is crap and not fit for purpose. Whether it's an upscaling issue (Vashetti) or something else matters not at that price level. |

The LA series will not be compatible with Netflix 4k or any other native 4k format in the future that requires HEVC codec and v2.0 HDMI. |

I wouldn't have bought a 4K TV to watch up scaled stuff on anyway. Thats also the problem.
The screens have to work at 4x"ing" the resolution of HD. Dont think processing is there yet either. Also notice how 4K Demos in store are static too. If I was you OP I would spend the amount on the very best HD LED. Samsung make a stunning Plasma too. |

I can't say BluRay looks any different to me, watching the same thing on a 4K set next to a normal HD one - it certainly doesn't scream 'buy me, buy me!'

The demos are usually provided by the manufacturers, as there's no source of 4K material they provide both a 4K media box and demo programmes for it.

![]() I said bluray looks exceptional upscaled to 4k, which it does, and you have just confirmed that by saying you can't tell the difference between the same bluray on 4k and HD. What it says to me is - it would be perfectly acceptable to me to view HD/bluray whilst native 4k becomes more available. |

Sorry, I thought you were claiming it enhanced BD - but it seems pretty pointless spending a LOT more money on a set with no available material, which is no better than existing far cheaper sets.
Better to wait until prices come down, and material becomes available. Prices have come down, Samsung and LG have just released their new models, you can now buy 4k for the same price as 2k. 4k content has started to become available, Netflix are now streaming 4k, they are also filming new series in 4k, I think this will force others to act a bit quicker than they had intended. So it looks promising for those interested. |

Surely its the same scenario to when HD ready sets were first on sale, the only content then was online, but then that's always been the case with new technology, the hardware always gets released first before content/medium.
Also, are today's 4K TVs going to be fully compliant with International UHD TV standards when they are agreed? Probably not, otherwise the UHD TV standards would already be agreed, which they aren't. For the above reasons, I would advise anyone to steer well clear of 4K TV for now. |

I'm not going to consider 4K yet until there is enough content available, the price comes down, and the standard is universal. Happy with 1080/3D for now

The big question is, is the new 4K technology as good in overall quality as 1080p TV technology? If this thread is anything to go by, the answer may be no: there's far more to overall TV picture quality than spatial resolution.

For the above reasons, I would advise anyone to steer well clear of 4K TV for now. If the 4K tv is made from low end LCD master panels the pq will be technically more detailed but will still suffer from bad colours, motion blur, bad viewing angles the same as low end normal LCDs are. £1499 for a 55" 4K TV? It's "not a bad" price for "not a bad" TV. |

Recently bought a LG 50PN650T plasma. It's 600HZ, but am still getting considerable motion blur on the football which I never had on my old 37" LCD. The LG was the best of a very rum bunch that Curry's had on display. Football was unwatchable on every LED under £1000 in the shop.

The 600Hz figure refers to something entirely different - the way Plasma works means that 100/120Hz is as high as you can go |
