I don't think he will have anything that exciting to hold over the producers. I don't rate him AT ALL as an actor but I bet stories of 'only fired cos I'm gay' would be circulating if anyone tried to get rid. I don't think he'd actually accept the truth, "you're crap, so crap it's laughable mate!"

I recognised the new guy from Emmerdale too and he is a real actor, what a shame he's got saddled with Cotton.....

With Corrie having been so bad at showing gay characters and storylines (and I bet they still don't do what HO do and show men kissing and lying in a bed together!) when they took Cotton on, I genuinely think they thought they were doing something momentous by hiring an openly gay 'actor' for the first time.

So maybe they think they're still doing something amazing by continuing to hire him and are scared of being labelled homophobic if they get rid of him!

There must be SOME reason they continue to hire someone who can't even act!
It;s still mind boggling this man won the Best Actor at the Soap awards in 2007. I know they're only popularity contests, where people voting are concerned, but still! The producers put his name forward for everything they could but to put his name forward for this when he didn't even have a storyline that year. is just .... mind boggling!

I remember he was up against Bill Ward as Charlie in Corrie (who can act and had a storyline) and James Sutton who was brilliant that year for his portrayal as John Paul in HO, coming out as a 17 year old .. and Chris Fountain, also a decent actor, who had had the Justin-Becca thing ... and they all lost to this joke!

I thought producers put forward an actor for the actor category because of the work they'd done on a storyline that year ... yet Cotton, up to then, had never had one storyline, he was just used for 'comic' one liners.

Mind boggling!

The soap awards have been a joke ever since, to me!

Sean Tully is gay but he's the wrong sort of gay apparently.

Poor Danny! He must be desperate for work!”

Hopefully it'll force Cotton to raise his game in the acting stakes otherwise he'll be acted off the screen!

Danny was brilliant as Ivan in Emmerdale so let's hope he gets other good scenes with better actors not just stuff with Sean.

Do we suppose that Rev Billy is going to move into Eileen's tardis when things start getting serious with Sean given that characters usually end up giving up their nice residences to squeeze into living onto the street (e.g. Paul the fireman, Carla, Andrea...)

Poor him.

Yay to Anthony!!!!! I love that he
continues on the show, and gets
a story, in spite of the negativity
he receives from social media. Good
for him and for CS.

Shut them down, Anthony!!!!! Do your
thing!!!!

I remember Daniel from his Emmerdale days.

Found his Show Reel on YouTube and he's a very talented actor; he also packs a very nice body, too!

I find Sean one of the most offensve characters in Soap, let alone Corrie.

And not for the normal complaint that he is a stereotype, because camp gay men exist in real life. But for a number of other reasons.

Sean was brought in to replace Todd because Bruno quit just as Corrie finally had their first "out" gay character. So Sean was brought in to tick a box as a gay character. If this was an ethnic character their would be uproar. So why is it okay to do this with Sean?

Since then, Sean has had no character development. Any stories he has had, go no where. Mainly due to the fact Cotton can't handle the material. When angry, Sean folds his arms, when upset he cuddles a pillow and when excited he squels. We have seen the same weak, unconvicning reaction for 10 years now. Tracking down his dad, Dylan and his relationship with Marcus has had no impact on his character. He still works two part time jobs, rents a room of Eileen and is still only being giving camp bitchy lines to say. Compare that to someone like Carla, look at her development in less time. Even a smaller character like Beth, is even more shocking, the difference in her and her development. She's changed more in her short time than Sean has in his long term stint.

And then theiris the fact Sean is the most judgemental character in the show. Sean is selfish. Everything is about him, and how it impacts on him. He doesn't like Tony, so he makes bitchy comments about him, forgetting Liz is his oartner and his boss. He looks down on people, making bitchy, snide comments but never airs those opinions when needed. Usually, flawed characters can be the most interesting characters. But Sean is just a horrible character.

It also irritates me that a wage packet is wasted on him when decent characters with potential are axed step forward Dennis Tanner, Teresa Bryant and Natasha Blakeman.

He has two saving graces. His relationship with Eileen and Jason is genuine and he shows genuine concern for them, and when invovled with them, he is at his best. Also he is good in a crisis. Anthony Cotton was surprisingly good during the tram crash, taking control in the Rovers and mucking in.

Sorry for the rant but it's how I feel,

Well, that saves me from writing anything. I just wish they'd axe him, I feel embarrassed when he comes on screen.

Because a few on here cannot see how much of a great character he is. And because of that they think the producers should bow to their demands and axe every character that doesn't deem worthy to them. Thankfully a lot of people outside these forums have different opinions, and it is a fact that Sean is a popular character. Hence why he has lasted 10 years. The time people accepted this the better, he is harming no one.

He is though, harming the reputation of the acting profession!

How the hell did he manage to get an equity card?????

He's obviously loved by the producers over the past 10 years, and that's all he needs to be - popular with the producers, regardless of what any viewers think.

Characters who get axed do so because the producer doesn't want them around anymore (or the writers don't want to write for them anymore) no other reason.

In HO, the only way they could get JP in a position to get to know a priest (as he went nowhere near a church), was to - bizzarely - have him move into the McQueen tardis, barely 5 minutes after he turned up, cos he apparently had nowhere to live, which was rubbish, seeing as they had a local priest who he could have moved in with!

Maybe they'll do the same here!

I've seen that comment before and it's puzzled me! I watched those episodes and he had barely anything to do beyond a few lines in the pub, as far as I can remember. Says a lot if it takes as little as that for someone to manage to praise him!
