I was just thinking... the first task is nearly always selling some kind of commodity on the street and to businesses impulsively (Series 5 they were selling a service, but it's close enough). In recent years I have felt that they seem to be running out of ideas, and I certainly struggle to think of anything that they haven't done. Series 9 just gave them a lot of miscellaneous items to flog. Here is a reminder of what they have done:

Series 1 - flowers.
Series 2 - fruit (the briefing said fruit and vegetables, but I didn't see anyone selling vegetables, it seemed to be nearly all fruit).
Series 3 - coffee.
Series 4 - fish.
Series 5 - cleaning services.
JA1 - cheese.
Series 6 - sausages.
Series 7 - business breakfasts, lunches and suppers.
YA2 - ice-cream.
Series 8 - self-printed items.
YA3 - recycled clothing.
Series 9 - random items from a box.

From the things that people have gleaned on Twitter, the first task for Series 10 appears to be selling flowers and coffee - I'm assuming that there are more things to sell than that, as they are very odd things to sell together. But it does seem to be things that they're recycling now. Do people think they're running out of things to sell in Task 1? And can anyone think of anything that they haven't done?

I don't think they'll run out of ideas.
BUT, there has been a big difference in difficulty of the first task throughout the series... In Series 1 all they had to do was buy flowers and sell them on the street, and iirc, both teams just selected one type of flower to sell.. Literally, a muppet could run that task. Series 8 on the other hand, was a very difficult first task... They had to be creative, manufacture AND sell, all in one task.

It seems to me that they are given the hints of what first episode of Season 10 is speculated to be. It sounds very unusual. I reckon they could do something relating to confectionary like brownies or cupcakes as that hasn't been done on regular apprentice. Its nearly always a food task though on task 1. I think the best episode 1 tasks were Series 8 and Series 5. I didn't like Season 9's first task at all. Another services task, like Series 3, maybe aimed at tourists or something might be good. It would be good to see this task done well.

It isn't nearly always a food task - it often is, but not often enough for it to be 'nearly always'. It hasn't been in Series 1, Series 5, Series 8, YA3 or Series 9.
