Netherlands vs Mexico - ITV 5pm KO
Netherlands should be boosted by the return of RVP from his one match ban. He may well be playing against fellow Manchester United striker Chicharito for Mexico. This could be a close game and I wouldn't be surprised if it went to extra time or even penalties. In the end I expect the Dutch will just nick it.
Enjoy the match! |

Robben and RvP vs Marquez... Not going to be 0-0, that's for sure!

You always have something to say on Peter underscore Lamy's match threads but not on the match threads created by others. Whys that Amanda underscore Raymond? |

Must say I am looking forward to this. The Mexicans could cause an upset if they stick to their high tempo play, as the Dutch love to boss the game. Stop them from doing that and it could spell trouble for them.....
Going out on a limb here, but I'll say 3-2 to Mexico.... (cue 0-0 draw and penalties) |

I pity people in the STV region who only have freeview as for some strange reason STV have decided not to show the game but instead show another episode of midsomer murders
EDIT: Might just be a simple mistake on the Sky EPG ignore me |

I think it'll be a close game, Holland to just edge it though, RVP could be the difference.

From BBC....
"Bruno Martins Indi is only fit enough to return to the bench after concussion so Dirk Kuyt continues at left back." I did miss the last game but is that right? Dirk Kuyt - left back! Anyway....I was looking for the teams. Don't think they are in yet. Something like this maybe? -----------------------Cillessen-------------------- ----------De Vrij-----Vlaar-----Kuyt(?)---------- Janmaat--De Jong--De Guzman--Blind ------Robben--------------------Sneijder------- --------------------Van Persie--------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------Peralta------------------------- -------------------Dos Santos-------------------- ------Guardado--------------Herrera---------- Layun----------------????---------------Aguilar ----Moreno----Marquez---Rodriguez----- ----------------------Ochoa------------------------ (???? The normal player - Vazquez - is banned so they think it could be the veteran Salcido to replace him or Diego Reyes who's with Porto.) - Edit - On second thoughts it might be Salcido into the defence and let Marquez play the anchor in midfield. Should be a great game. Two exciting teams and everyone's favourite international boss on the sidelines. Mexico on pens is my prediction but I'm usually wrong. |

This is the hardest match of the second round to call in my opinion - so I'm not going to.
One factor that's not been mentioned so far but should be kept in mind when assessing the likely Dutch performance is how well they'll be able to sustain the intense early afternoon heat and humidity in Fortaleza. |

Think Dutch will have too much for Mexico and win 2-1. Wouldn't wind seeing 6 goals and and another shootout though
ITV's first break after 8 minutes just another 23 to go before ko.

Today's game I believe will be the first with water breaks after 30 minutes of each half.

The conditions look like they're going to be tough today and may favour the Mexicans... but if the Netherlands can somehow match the form shown in the group stage they should still be too strong.
Mind you, if Ochoa matches the form he showed in the group stage even the goal power of the Netherlands might struggle to find a way through! |

Congrats to Dirk Kuyt on his 100th international cap. Many times he was Liverpool's supersub.. coming on and scoring just when we needed it. Hope he can do the same today.
