People can't even sit in the stands in this heat yet FIFA expect players to play football. Absolutely nuts, no surprise at all that this has been a poor game so far.
At this rate the Quater matches will resemble a Sunday league game

People keep blaming the heat for this match, but there has been far hotter games than this at WC.

Ireland vs Mexico in 94' was over 110F/42C (the temperature was recorded live on the pitch). Still an ok game. F*cked Ireland though.
Was that the one where John Aldridge went bezerk

It isn't. Look at the back of the stands. People cannot sit out in the sun.

That's a penalty kick.

Unfortunately Arjen Robben's reputation now precedes him when it comes to things like this.

It's easy to blame the heat for not scoring
If people can't sit in the heat how do you expect a good game full of goals? It's garbage.

It has been a great World Cup, definitely, but the refereeing has been sub-par I think. Especially when it comes to decisions to make inside the box.

Yeah and Jack Charlton was stopped from getting water bottles to his players!

I was about to say the same thing. This isn't the first time a WC has been held on an American continent. I recall searing temperatures throughout Mexico '86, and I'm sure it was the same in previous tournaments held in Central or South America.

I can't decide who I dislike more as a co-commentator: Clarke Carlisle or Robbie Savage. At least for me, both are frustrating in their own ways.

Oh dear, but he'll be ok out of the sun.

1/2 time...and hoping the 2nd half won't be as boring as the first.

End of a first half rendered awful by the heat.

Mexico had the best of it but that's merely a reflection of Dutch having to play an ill-suited low tempo, conservative game purely to pace themselves in the dreadfully oppressive conditions.

Any potential flow to the game was also killed stone dead by the necessity of the cooling break.

I was about to say the same thing. This isn't the first time a WC has been held on an American continent. I recall searing temperatures throughout Mexico '86, and I'm sure it was the same in previous tournaments held in Central or South America.
Indeed, but that largely had a detrimental affect on the quality of the football and the matches played in those tournaments - particularly involving countries not used to such conditions.

Watching Holland really struggle in these conditions, reminds me no European side has ever won the world cup in America.

Does she still play with the 2 big un's up top??

This heat is going to give Fifa all the ammo they need to rip up that contract with Qatar (and not return all that money in the brown envelopes).

I do understand all that, but these guys are playing in it, and if they can't manage it, then why not play, and leave it for another time when it's cooler. I don't want to see players flaking out after a few runs around the pitch, then acting playing which makes the game boring to watch. I don't expect lots of goals, but one or 2 wouldn't go amiss. After that they can leave the pitch early.

Back in the studio now. The beach idea has been put aside. Did they all get changed, they must have missed parts of the game.
