Here's an amazing stat.

Greece have won every WC match they've scored in.

Greece playing the far more positive game, Costa Rica have been on the back foot for the last 40 minutes or so really.
What do you expect? They've only had ten men in that time!

Because they've played very poor sides so far, apart from Colombia who absolutely destroyed them.
Well, Greece can only try to beat what's in front of them.

This has got all the making of Ukraine vs Switzerland in 2006...
I'm still seeing a psychiatrist because of that one. It actually made me question my purpose in life.

Can CRica hold on, as this extra time will only add to their fatique, where the Greeks look as if they can play for years!

I've only just tuned in to this one. I hope it goes to penalties!

Several of these players look ready to drop. I wonder if water breaks shoulf have been used through-out the WC and not just for specific matches.

I heard Van Gaal pushed very heavily for the breaks.

Haha. Wasn't it followed by Japan / Paraguay which was just as bad?

I'm tired

True, though I don't think being down a man always makes the massive difference that some people make out it does. Some sides seem to cope pretty well being a man down.

The red card is the difference so far.

I suspect some of us felt the same after 30 minutes or so.

Are you just waiting to see what I write so you can contradict it?

The very worst match I can remember watching. 120 minutes and then they start missing the penalties too!

What a chance for Costa Rica!

Possibly the only one they'll get in this extra time period.

Somebody in the Dutch match thread earlier said that a Brazilian court ordered FIFA that drinks breaks had to be taken. I've read somewhere that they only happen if the temperature is 32c or above.

All true. So.....why aren't the opposition good enough to beat them?

Ivory Coast had them dead to rights. Ditto Costa Rica. Greece have this knack of late goals. They aren't a great side but I do admire their never-say-die attitude of playing until the final whistle.
They scored nada in their first two matches and only one goal in the run of play in three group matches. Columbia, the only truly quality side they've faced, had little trouble dispatching them. Their other matches included a scoreless draw against Japan and late win on a PK against Ivory Coast. Enough to sqeak through but hardly scintillating stuff. Quite possibly the least impressive team to advance to the quarters if they do so.

Never say die attitude? It's the knock out stages and they're up a man for the better part of the 2nd half! Would any other team be any different?

Brave goalkeeping Navas!

He could be useful in the penalty shoot out if Costa Rica get there.

This is pretty gripping now.
