I have a creative labs zen 30gb mp3 player, and i was thinking about buying a mini speaker system from dabs.com . Would i be able to connect it up to the speakers? The mp3 player only has a headphone socket, a dc in and a usb2 socket? Any ideas?

Probably not unless you can find a hi fi system that has a USB input.
Creative tend to build products that work with their own stuff so if you routed it through a PC sound card/external box (like an Audigy, Extigy or some other manufacturer's equivalent) via USB and played it through your PC speakers that would be an option. Though, of course, you might as well just play tracks straight from your hard drive. Unless you can connect the card to your hi-fi system in some way...

The headphone out socket should work OK connected to the aux input on a stereo system or portable. You will need a 3.5mm stereo jack to 2 RCA cable.

They should work OK with it.

It has a built in amp. A more detailed spec here ....

.... so the output through the headphones should be adequate.

I've used similar things connected to a portable player when on holiday. Handy, as they're portable. Sound quality isn't likely to be the best in the world but I doubt it's going to be your main sound system or anything so it should be fine.

You'll need a cable to split the headphone 3.5mm jack output to the two 3.5mm jack inputs used by the speakers but you can pick them up easily enough.

theres the usual speaker options, if they have a 3.5mm input, as well as the larger systems, with line in.
theres also creatives own travel sound speakers.
If youve got a creative player, have you tried looking at http://www.nomadness.net ?
