Are Brazil about to go out of the World Cup?
They couldn't even beat Chile, heaven knows how they'll manage Colombia.

Could be. Then again - 3 wins from the title. Glass half full and all that.
I do think Colombia will beat them, but I thought that about Chile too. |

Columbia's last 30 mins weren't great as they defended deep and Uruguay came on to them. Suarez would have had a field day. As long as Brazil take their chances and rough up J-Rod again, they'll win.

Nope, the pratts in yellow will sail through with a lucky goal or dubious penalty as usual.

Colombia have been playing great, but do they have the big game mentality at this stage?
That last half hour or so against Uruguay is what is making everyone ask the question. |

Even 3 wins looks pretty daunting when you flesh out the detail:
They've got to beat Colombia then most likely France/Germany and Argentina/Netherlands to win it. |

Colombia's defence is flaky, but then Brazil have no attacking threat aside from Neymar. I think it'll be a pretty even contest.

I think they have very slim chances of winning this World Cup : you can't be such an average side and rely on luck to get you through four knockout rounds.
They have met two good sides so far (Mexico and Chile) and failed to beat either of them. I pointed out in another thread that the stats are completely against them. Five out of six teams who won a penalty shoot out at the last 16 stage were eliminated in the quarter finals, and no host nation has ever needed to win a penalty shoot out to reach the quarter final before. |

I don't think Brazil have played that well to be honest, but you don't have to be amazing to win the World Cup. Just beat what's in front of you.
Didn't Spain win 3 or 4 games 1-0 when they won it 4 years ago? If they are winning without getting into a higher gear it means we haven't seen the best of them yet. I do worry for them if Neymar has to be taken off though. |

Neymar verses Rodriguez basically, the big difference is Rodriguez has scored in every game and Neymar hasn't

Brazil will beat Colombia.
There's a decent possibility of Germany or France beating them in the semi-final but I suspect it may have to be Argentina (or perhaps the Netherlands) that stops them from winning it in the final. |

Very good point. This Brazilian squad with all its flaws won the Confed cup. Ok not as tough as the World Cup but it was still a high pressure tournament for them on home soil and they routed Spain who were much better than their 2014 incarnation. It's probably that what is driving them on.

It's like saying Germany are no attacking threat without Muller, Argentina are no threat without Messi, ........etc. You can't really compare what teams are like without certain players. Because that;s what picking a team is all about. You pick the players for your team which are the best options possible. |
