BT Home Hub 5

29-06-2014
I upgraded to Infinity 2 recently and got a Home Hub 5 and BT YouView box.

I have one PC that runs 24/7 and at least once a day I find it connected to the WiFi but with No Internet Access. This is fixed by a disconnect and reconnect to the WiFi. My other PC does this occasionally but it is not so obvious with not being on 24/7. I find some recordings on the YouView failed so wondering if this is caused by the same problem though the YouView is connected to the hub by Ethernet so probably unrelated.

I have asked around but not got any serious answers except to run a second WiFi router connected to the Home Hub 5 and this works reliably 24/7.

I did a search oniine and found lots of complaints on the BT Forums about similar problems with the Home Hub 5 but have not seen any with solutions except to buy a new one and replace the Home Hub 5.

I wonder if anyone here has come across any answers?

De-sync the SSIDs and rename the 5GHz one with a 5 as the last char. All the settings are in the Advanced Settings|Wireless|5GHz Wireless

e.g. BTHub5-ABCD to BTHub5-ABC5

I saw that suggested elsewhere and did consider it. I don't seem to be having as many problems now but perhaps give it a try.
