Taking away the heat problem. How do you think they would do as hosts? We know they have money and need to build 8 stadiums which according to them will have air conditioning units to counter the heat. How good are these stadiums gonna be. Will they be standard 50,000 or big 80,000 ones Also when do they start building?

The stadiums will be awesome, no doubt about that.

Since they will be playing in winter, heat won't be that big a problem... Will no more than previous world cups.

atm they are not going to be playing in the winter ?

the heat is said to be an issue in the game that's on atm between Holland and mexico and its about 10 degrees less there than it will be in Qatar , so I think the heat is most certainly going to be an issue

FIFA have already said it won't be in the summer. Its 25c in the winter.... Ideal for football.

But how are they gonna get round the problem of it being in the middle of players season?

Winter break, like they already have in some European leagues.

Qatar bid for a summer tournament. If they can't safely deliver that, they shouldn't be allowed to host it. (Unfortunately, Qatar would sue FIFA if stripped, so we're stuck with them as hosts).

Its incredible isnt it.

We can see the players struggle when it reaches 30c in brazil, never mind what it would be like in a 50c windless bowl of a stadium!

There is no way qatar will have the world cup. No way whatsoever.

Couldn't they have a roof over each of the stadiums?

Its 38c currently for the Holland/mexico match. Like l said earlier, is around 25c in winter, so no problem.

No way?, we will see

That would be a only way. Maybe a 8 week break. It would have to allow for players to rest after they return but I can't see any other way.

It will be terrible. I say let Brazil have it every 4 years, you can't go wrong

When was this? I read they were looking at it, but nothing definite.

They will shift the season forward and back so they can make a big break for Nov/Dec, it'll need doing over two seasons though really prior to 2022..

They should never have been given the World Cup in the first place.

Typical FIFA crooked/idiotic decision.

And when would this break occur?? We don't have a winter break in this country, we play throughout the winter months.

They'd invent a break, just like how fixtures are already manipulated to suit international tournaments.

it would end up impacting three seasons really , the season the world cup is held in, whether that be 2021/22 or 2022/23, would have the extended break to allow the tournament to be held.

the season before would have to finish early , and the season after would end up having to start later

given we are already seeing a lot of complaints about players playing all year around , and with clubs doing more and more summer tours for commercial reasons, I just don't see how all of that disruption can be justified to allow what was always a terrible decision to proceed.

You won't be playing in winter if that is when the world cup is held. If you don't qualify, then you can continue and play during the winter if you wish.

Could we see a scenario where FIFA insist on a winter World Cup and quite a few of the major European nations pull out rather than disrupt the season?

Since England (and Wales to cover Swansea and Cardiff) supply the most players to this World Cup, and if that for example were to continue for the 2022 edition, how do you play matches without so many members of a clubs 25 man squad??

Can't you just tell me where you've seen confirmation? Google provides a lot of speculation, although I do appreciate the lesson in how it works.
