Indeed most wonder goals are flukey in the result.

Just under four days rest for the winner of this tie , six days rest for Brazil of course

Khedira nearly gifted one to Algeria there.

Germany not safe, Algeria definitely not given this up.

Algeria by far the most tactically organised of the African teams at this world cup

Its ironic that Algeria are called the Desert Foxes - what they lacked tonight is a fox in the box to convert some of their chances.

All I meant was pity it didn't happen in the pre-extra time, as that would have been a greater feeling. Extra time means danger time when something had to happen, and it did. So wasn't being harsh, as I like to enjoy a match instead of feeling on edge of will they won't they. Is that ok with you

Algeria could have comfortably won this game with the amount of space and breaks they've had. It's getting harder and harder to feel sorry for their seemingly imminent loss.

Same for all hosts though now that they play in Group A so they can be the opening game. Isn't special treatment for Brazil. Plus the opponents get the same amount of rest (give or take a few hours).

And - perhaps not coincidentally - they've been the most progressive footballing side amongst the African teams at this World Cup.

I find this weird because Rommel, the 2nd world war respected German Field Marshal was "The Desert Fox".

Germans will see this out now... surely?

Can definitely see Algeria getting a goal in the next 15 minutes but equally a second goal is there for Germany.

Its what's separated the teams that are getting into the qf's from those that are going out a player in contention for golden boot/capable of changing a game by themself Neymar, Rodriguez, Robben, Muller, Benzema and Messi if Argentina qualify.
