Mind you it's only the 1st half when they are settling in

You know what's gonna happen. Algeria have tired themselves which means Germany will break through in the second half.

Germany 3-1 Algeria FT

Just started watching. 0-0 at half-time will be a great halfway score for Algeria. I take it they are acquitting themselves quite well then, or are Germany doing everything but score?

I really want one underdog to win a last 16 tie. None so far.

What a first half. Had everything but goals. Most of them should have been Algeria's.

Algeria clearly the better team in that half but the interval has come at a good time for them because Germany were finishing very strongly.

As well as their movement, pace and crisp passing, you couldn't fail to be impressed by the Algerians' work-rate in that first half as they were heavily pressing the Germans all over the pitch early on and causing them to misplace passes and lose possession cheaply.

The less said about Manuel Neuer's determined attempts to form part of three-at-the-back, the better.

Not some thinking...Germany have to do a lot of thinking for the 2nd half!

A very good half from Algeria, but can they keep it going for the full 90?

Surely the Germans won't be as inept in the second half?

Don't often see a German side, a side I tipped to win the tournament I might add, given the runaround like this in a world cup match. Very enjoyable.

Algeria have done everything but score. They have had at least 5 chances and Germany maybe a couple. Germany are starting to get a grip a bit though.

Really good first half. Really hope Algeria can keep it up in the second.

IMO he's done better than Neuer who has run out of his box repeatedly.

First half Algeria have dominated and Germany look dreadful. If Germany are this nervy against Algeria, then if they win tonight they needn't turn up to the game with France, as they'll get slaughtered the way they are playing.

Very entertaining first half.

Algeria have been by far the better side

Is Lahm looking the part as a midfielder? The last game it was weird watching Howedes having a bit of a nightmare at LB (I thought - although I think he's retained his place) whilst Lahm was sitting as a DM. I'm sure he's a good midfielder but they have more need of him at full-back I think.

Just 28% possession for Algeria but they used it very well. Just lacking the killer touch in front of goal. Germany usually make teams pay for that.

Neuer sharp off the goal lne.

Mistime one of those, and he could be off.

Thought Germany had lost its fizz during the 1st half, as Algeria were the stars of it, except for goals, but they were great to watch

Cheers. Maybe they'll be disappointed with 0-0 then. Sets up an exciting half (and maybe more) though.

Germany have been dire so far. They need to take off Gotze/Mustafi, and put Lahm back at RB. Playing Mustafi was a bad, bad, bad decision. Neuer has been the best player for Germany, not that that's saying anything. Algeria, if they continue in the vein they have will probably score - and could certainly make an interesting tie with France.

Germany are playing as well as Algeria are allowing them. Germany have only ever scored once against Algeria, while Algeria have scored 4 times against Germany. This match is going in exactly the same way.

Well, I can hope

If he hadn't run out of his box then Germany would be at least a goal down and/or down to 10 men

Fantastic anticipation and concentration from him

Any Algerians or Germans on this site? Can we get an insider's perspective?

Glenn Hoddle: "the problem for Al Jazeera" best slip of the tongue I've heard so far.
