I think the Germans will beat them.....Brazil seem to be under colossal pressure and trying the most desperate tactics to get through as they know they haven't got the footballing ability.

I think it is because Brazil are continuously held up as embodying uniquely the beautiful aspects of the game, so when they fall short - as this team most certainly do - they are subjected to much resentful criticism. The Brazil of 1970, for instance, didn't know how to win ugly, and didn't need to.

Brazil also look like a team under tremendous pressure which probably explains why they looked so panicked in the last 15 minutes.

I wrote this on the first page before the match. I stick to everything I've said and its the very reason why I think Germany will win the semi final, because they display all the characteristics that Chile and Colombia lack. Germany might be it.

They have the big game strength, and could be finally the first team to beat Brazil in Brazil in 40 years. It takes a team with big character to do Brazil in their own backyard IMO.

I feel quite let down by Colombia. They've played some good stuff up until now, but for most of the game tonight they were playing hoofball and looked every bit as ordinary as Brazil until they got the penalty.

Referee really should have started getting cards out for either side earlier. Very little flow to the game as a result.

To be fair, Colombia were also a let down with the number of times they were caught offside.

Like Chile and Colombia? Germany haven't been that convincing either. Algeria gave them a good game and today they didn't really look good. Defended well but attacking wise they seemed pretty clueless.

Normally the best thing about Germany is how good they are as a team unit. Lately though they have been relying on individual brilliance.

I don't think they have a good record against Brazil either... Not in recent times I don't think.... Not to mention they are the host making it a whole lot harder. The fans have played a massive part imo.

The main reason I fancy the Germans is that they have a winning mentality and enormous self belief.

Brazil look to be a bit of a shambles at the moment.....the fact that they would resort to kicking Colombia off the pitch rather than playing any football indicates they have very little confidence at the moment.

I on;y caught the second half but France were totally useless. Germany probably just trotted about making sure of the win.

If France played better no doubt Germany would have upped there game also.

Neither Brazil nor Germany are outstanding teams. Brazil seem to be in a state of panic though and under extreme pressure.......it's incredible that they would cynically resort to a war of attrition against Colombia, seeing as they were playing at home and were the favourites.

Yes, it would be the sort of game that could damage diplomatic relations as the governments would take the side of their teams in the punch up post mortem.

Germany aren't known for playing with great flair. They are a side who get the job done and have the ability to adapt to their opponents' different styles.

A well organised German side should have more than enough to see off this truly appalling Brazil team.

If this Brazil team win the World Cup it will be hugely disappointing and I hope the Germans spare us having to watch them ruin the final.
