The only thing that can see this Brazil team through against the Germans is their home advantage.

Germany are the better team.

If this Brazil team win the World Cup it will be hugely disappointing and I hope the Germans spare us having to watch them ruin the final.”

They reminded me a bit tonight of that horrible Argentinian side that reached the final in 1990.

Are the social problems in Brazil affecting the carnival atmosphere that was expected. No carnivals shown at all on the TV.

Ah, you should have seen Pogba in the first half. He managed to burst through the midfield really easily. Multiple times. As good as he is I thought it was strange how Germany didn't contain him well enough. In the second half though France were a mess and Germany should consider themselves rather lucky because Ozil for instance was just dreadful and killing their opportunities.

I think Brazil will be more up for it. They have to be.

Maybe I am judging Brazil by their past high standards but I really detest their current team. I totally understand why people are "Why can't Brazil win ugly" and I have no answer to it but there something about seeing the people in those shirts play like they have this World Cup that leaves you empty.

Hope Germany either smash them or win with a pen from a last minute dive. At least we expect it from them

He must be rubbish. In recent times, how many first choice Brazilian strikers have been stuck in the Brazilian league rather than playing for a top European club.

Sven should have been managing at this World Cup because it appears you can get to the semis without turning up in the second half.

The way I see it is that they know they are not very good and haven't got the footballing ability to play teams off the pitch. It looks to me as if they were seriously afraid of Colombia and their passing game tonight and deliberately set out to cynically foul and disrupt them.

You can't really blame Brazil for not playing the samba football we used to know them for - when it boils down to it they are a pretty average team with Neymar being the one true world class star, but then you consider they also have to carry players like Fred (who I have never seen have a good game) and Oscar (who has a very occasional good game but looks knackered every time he takes to the pitch).

Having said that I would love to see Germany destroy them in the semi final ... if Neymar and Silva are both out of that game you would make the Germans strong, strong favourites.

Suspicions Neymar has a "severe" spinal injury and could be out for several months....

You've never seen a 8.5 million yard free kick scored before?

Hope the guy is OK but that's surely them screwed for the semi final with him and Silva missing.

Doubt it. He'll be back for the SF. As well as the Brazil win the Cup plot, they're also running the Hero Comeback Kid plot simultaneously.

Neymar missing will hurt their chances. Brazil are unlike past wc teams but why do so many here want to see them fail? They've beaten ds hopefuls Chile and now Colombia, if Germany also fail will ds regulars be favouring Brazil's opponents in the final as well?

The decisions they get by being at home (as every home nation do, us included in 66) has maybe just seen them over the line in some games. Maybe that sounds a bit ott but there have been a few decisions in games that I imagine would have gone for Brazil whereas they didn't for their opponents. Not sending off Caeser tonight and Neymars elbow against Croatia are two that spring to mind. Not clear cut you could say but they do make a difference. Then there was the continuous fouling tonight that saw one player (I think) booked. I just cant help thinking they are getting all the big 50/50's their way. Nothing surprising or new but perhaps a reason why so many would be disappointed to see Brazil win what has been a brilliant tournament and why they are attracting so much criticism.

I don't want them to win because they are a piss poor team and not worthy of being World Champions.

World Cup winners should be entertaining to watch at the very least and also a team to be respected. Brazil are neither of those two things.

Mainly because they are not playing well and look overrated. They needed a dodgy refereeing decision against Croatia (that game may well have finished 1-1 otherwise), drew 0-0 against Mexico and failed to beat Chile during 120 minutes of football. Tonight they kicked Colombia off the pitch, so are not doing much to endear themselves to anyone.

According to the BBC:

Quote:
“This game saw more fouls committed than any match at this tournament so far (54; previous most was 51 during Brazil v Chile).”

Brazil are certainly winning ugly - they won't get away with that against the Germans and the fact that despite those stats the referee failed to make one booking in the first half has to maybe be called into question.

Neymar is out of the World Cup, fractured vertebrae, nothing was said about that challenge for some reason.

There were people on here accusing him of time wasting, even after he was stretchered off.
