I am going to buy a new TV and would like a cable tuner.

Does anybidy know which TV's available in the UK have a cable tuner included?

A search reveals old info. that all Samsung TV's have this, is this still the case?

Also, I already have a Samsung Galaxy tablet, is there any advantage at all in buying a Samsung TV?

Someone said something the other day that suggested that the compatibility would help me to be able to watch the tablet output on the TV

I've tried googling for info, but can't seem to find anything.

As cable tuners aren't used in the UK it's often not mentioned in the specs - UK cable uses specific VM boxes to get their programming, NOT the TV's internal tuner.

Plus don't VM get a bit "annoyed" if you try and connect unapproved kit to their network? You'd probably get Richard Branson and David Tennant round to show you the error of your ways...

Depends who you talk to. In some areas in analogue days VM cable was supplied to blocks of flats so TVs could be directly connected for the "must carry" channels. Also a cable FM radio feed was supplied to connect directly to your hi fi.

OP you need to look for a set with a DVB-C decoder. But don't expect too much. I connected such a set to VM and could display the 5 main channels only and tune in several hundred encrypted ones that were blank screens. Interestingly there were analogue versions go the 4 main channels as well. This was about a year and a half ago so maybe the analogues are no longer there.
