Has anyone heard any more about what Matt could have initially been against with his storyline?

He didn't want to touch Linda's smelly arse.

I think someone on another site already knows what it is...

I just read what I think you are referring to. It this person does know then it doesn't sound very promising from their description.

Yeh

What on earth could it be?

I'll post it here too. -
On another site, this was posted:

“Dean is not going to be nice for much longer. The story is even more sick than I ever saw coming. No wonder Matt voiced concerns. ”

If you read the spoilers, Stan encourages Dean to try his luck with a mystery woman, not realising its Linda who Dean is talking about. Then in the next episode he catches her alone up stairs where she again warns him off. Maybe he is about to threaten to expose her secret if she doesn't show an interest or something or maybe he steals her underwear. Dean's disturbed. I don't think he will be around long term.

Any character can be redeemed - it's all to do with the writing - look at Sienna in Hollyoaks. A lot of viewers love her because she's been written in a love to hate way and she's been mentally unwell and had to deal with lots of things. Just because a character does something bad doesn't mean they are automatically going to be written out. For example, Stacey killed someone and will be returning.

I do think that from what Matt has said, the viewers will be made aware of Dean's mental state and what he's been through from this quote:
Quote:
“ show people... make people aware of that situation and go through that.”

I think it will go one of two ways. Either he does something to Linda that she feels she can't tell Mick about or she cheats on Mick.. possibly drunk. There is potential for both story lines. Mick's "curb crawling" may alienate Linda from him and she's been feeling broody too.. add to that alcohol and Dean manipulating her and perhaps something happens there. Or the blackmail scenario.. although surely her secret isn't that big that she'd allow herself to be sexually used by him. But this is soap land. Anything is possible.

I think ultimately it will build and build and result in a big reveal episode with Shirley also confessing her secrets. It will be a big Carter special episode. Possibly all filmed within the vic. That's what I'd do anyway.

I agree, I don't think blackmail could happen just over that secret. Linda would surely choose the tell everyone? Also, it would be a bit like Kat/Andy and surely DTC wouldn't repeat that?

I think Dean may try to hurt Linda, but is either stopped or Linda is able to get free. That way, Dean would be seen as needing help and he could still be redeemed.

This could be referring to LINDA's experience (of sexual harrassment) not Deans.
Do you expect EE to play a sexual abuser sympathetically??
Face it- Deans gonna be a baddie.
And sadly this will.mean he doesn't stay around forever.

True, I just assumed, and hoped, it would be Dean's experience.

I'm always optimistic so until we know for sure what's going to happen, I will stay positive about how he's going to be written.

Now you've put it into this context it does sound like it could be sexual harrassment. Has a soap ever covered this issue before?

Maybe this gives more credence to the theory that Dean's the arsonist?? That's certainly something "sick".

What a shame. I was hoping for a sensitive story of reconcilliation between a terrible mother and her abused son. This is clearly not going to happen. They're just going to legitamise Shirley's abandonment of him by making Mick the golden boy.

I hope Matt at least has fun with it if Dean must be bad.

I suspect he was asked to pimp out Johnny and Ben Mitchell out of the back of his salon, and objected.
