Kennedy said: "Coronation Street was, and still is, a huge part of my life and I have so many fond memories of my time on the old Granada set.

"It's great that the site is now open for visitors to see behind the scenes of where I spent so many happy years and I can't wait to see their reactions when they step on to the cobbles for the very first time!"

The tour of the Quay Street studios has proved popular since its opening in April and recently celebrated its 100,000th visitor.
Visitors who purchase tickets for tours on July 3, July 10 and July 17 between 4pm and 6pm, and July 24 between 7pm and 9pm, will have the chance to meet and have their picture taken with the star.

Former Coronation Street star Kevin Kennedy will be making special appearances at 'Coronation Street The Tour' throughout the month.

The actor played Curly Watts in the ITV soap for 20 years, appearing from 1983 to 2003.

I wish they'd stop saying "Curly is coming back!" then in the small print saying "for a DVD spin off/for a musical!/for the tour!" lol

Had me fooled for a minute then

I honestly think he will return for real at some point though. Don't we keep hearing about Stuart Blackburn meeting Kevin Kennedy for lunch and stuff like that? There's got to be a reason for it.

What is the attraction with both fans, especially EE fans, and producers wanting to bring back past performers. Curly Watts has not been missed in the time he has been gone, so why on earth do they want to bring him back.

Who will he have an affair with, have a baby by, go to prison over, murder or get murdered? Because these are the only stories Corrie is putting out at the moment.

Very few returnees to soaps are a success, Bet Lynch, Dirty Den are just two. Emmerdale seems to be full of returning actors and quite honestly, very few of them work well, Leila for one is just an annoying spare part.

Give it up, when they go, then let them stay away.

I somehow don't see him returning to the show itself. Tours and DVDs maybe, but full time? I agree with desperate house, lets think about it what will he do? Sleep with everyone, have affairs, get banged up, or just lurk around in the background doing nothing. Look at Dennis, what a waste that was. Then he'll probably be axed again a couple of years later, that's if they don't make Curly an asshole and the next Corrie psycho killer.

He could of returned for either Vera or Jack's funeral, but they lost that opportunity.

Why did Curly leave again?
IIRC Curly's wife Emma had a police colleague called Mick, who was dating Janice Battersby. This made Les Battersby jealous, and when Emma and Mick ended up pulling Les over, Mick beat up Les.

Emma perjured and lied for Mick, and Les ended up going to prison. When Curly found out they split up, but reconciled when Emma got a transfer elsewhere. They then left together.

Someone will have to fact check this as I was an irregular watcher at the time

You obviously never read the article. He is appearing on the tour he is not returning to the show itself.

Why did Curly leave again?
Because he was an alcoholic. Or rather the actor playing him.

Myself & my parents are booked on the 3pm tour on July 17th - wonder if they'll double check tickets & we can meet him as strictly speaking, the tour lasts until 4:30pm, but you can stay as long as you want on the cobbles - I went with a friend in May & we left at 4:45pm as we'd seen eerything - 45 mins after our tour was suppose to end! We'll be there until 4:30pm, so will see what happens - be nice to meet Kevin Kennedy!

I don't see the point of a Curly return to be honest. Not sure he would be interested to returning to that little street in Manchester where lets face it he had a fair share of miserable times! If Curly was going to return it would have been for Vera and Jack's funerals. He lived with them for a while and was good friends with both of them, if he couldn't be bothered to turn up for their funerals then I cant see why he would come back for any other reason.

I wonder what he will actually do on the tour.

Curly Watts was one of the most pathetic specimens of the male species to ever darken the cobbles
An annoying, cowardly maggot of a bloke.
Always whinging about his lot in life, but doing bugger all about it.

If he came back, I'd smash my telly up with a jack hammer and send him the ruddy bill.
He's such a pathetic coward, he'd pay it as well.
Then he'd moan about it for ever, the maggot.
