I have a feeling Germany will make the quicker start in spite of the huge effort they had to put in to see off Algeria in extra time and the French having things comparatively easier against Nigeria.

Hello, we've had the anti-discriminatory announcements and now a banner is being unfurled; it's almost like FIFA are trying to assuage a guilty conscience.

and what exactly are you accusing me off there ?

players want to just get on with it rather than being used to try and get across a political message right before a game is due to start , regardless of how well intentioned the message is

There was no need to bring in political correctness, why not just say "this is the wrong time before a big match".

Forget it, I can't be arsed with this crap I'm watching the match.

Given Lahm's considerable contribution against homophobia and intolerance over the course of his career, I should think he was proud to read out such a message.

Germans benefiting from all the lemsips they've been snorting.

Cracking aerial picture of Rio there, what a perfect setting for a World Cup. Shame it's Russia and Qatar next.

Let's hope not, they'll have nasty things in them that the FIFA doping people look out for.
