These are the colours and the flavors

Blue - Whole
Green - Semi Skimmed
Red - Skimmed
Orange - Low Fat
Purple - Very Low Fat

Although I'm unsure about the orange and the purple which I've seen in supermarkets. I drink semi skimmed mainly but have some whole milk as well. I have tried skimmed before but didn't like it as much.

I didn't think you could take any more fat out of milk after skimmed.

Titanium Dioxide is apparently an ingredient used in skimmed milk. I watched one of those foodie programmes a while back.
I tried to do some research, but the thought of it was enough to put me off and got lost in google after google search.
Does anyone have any ideas/knowledge if skimmed milk isn't that good?
I love milk x

I switched to whole milk after doing months of reading about fats and sugar. We used to drink semi-skimmed which is just under 2% butterfat. Whole milk is somewhere between 3 and 4%. The way some people go on about it, it's like they think whole milk is akin to drinking cream. It's definitely not. I think it has a nicer flavor than semi-skimmed, plus the fat helps your body absorb vitamins. You don't have to get that fat from milk, almonds can do the same job.

Okay, I know, it's a wikipedia page, but still, it's a good starting point to do further reading:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skimmed_milk

"Skimmed milk contains less fat than whole milk, and as such many nutritionists and doctors recommend it for people who are trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. On the other hand, some consider skimmed milk to actually be less healthy than whole milk, citing the observation that low fat foods generally do not lower calorie consumption and that when it comes to weight loss, restricting calories has a poor track record. It is thought that the reduction in calories keeps the body further from satiety, causing it to ultimately seek out the same amount of calories that would have otherwise been consumed, and in some cases possibly more or from sources less beneficial. The extent to which animal fat contributes to weight gain is also brought into question, along with claims that skimmed milk is more beneficial to heart health since non-skimmed milk has a higher low-density lipoprotein content. Milkfat, however, contains large, non-dense (Pattern A) LDL particles, which studies have shown to carry far less risk of coronary heart disease than small, dense (Pattern B) LDL particles. Skimmed milk also contains almost no Vitamin A."

Thanks for that information x
As much as I like drinking milk, I don't worry about the calories too much, I think I'm just going to be more careful x

It's funny how people consider Whole Milk as high fat when it's one of the lowest fat foods you can get.

If you drink a couple of pints a day, as I do, it soon adds up.

Oat milk.

I like whole milk, the animal fat gives it a more milky taste.

Semi skimmed is ok, but anything less and you're just drinking white water.

For the amount of milk that I drink anyway, the full fat doesn't matter to me. Plus you need the fat to make tea go white.

Just bought 2 cartons of skimmed milk tonight for the first time for my diet tomorrow. Not looking forward to it as I'm used to full fat milk

skimmed is like water, I could have it with cereal but not with tea or on its own

whole milk is too thick and has a high fat content

semi skimmed is the best

The first thing I done when I moved out of my parental home was buy a box of coco pops and a bottle of gold top and had it for every meal couldn't do it now, but it was the best thing ever.

I'm a green top girl.

Full fat milk is healthier than skimmed/semi skimmed.

It has higher fat but is still a low fat food.

What lots of people don't understand is many of the vitamins in milk are fat soluble so you remove the fat and you also remove alot of the benefits.

True, but I can't imagine many people drink that much.

I have semi skimmed, plus I have skimmed milk powder for when I run out of fresh milk.
Blue milk tastes horrible to me (and my kids), I haven't tried gold top milk, and don't ever want to either.

Semi skimmed is healthier in other respects though ,eg. it contains more calcium.

Blue is better for you and gold top is nice to drink. But I buy semi skimmed as I don't like milky tea.
