A ceiling collapses on top of the Weatherfield grease monkey as he is having renovations done at his house. Tyrone (Alan Halsall, 31) comes close to death when he is struck by falling debris, including a large drill.

His friends and family look on in horror as he’s whisked away in an ambulance, screaming in agony. Builder Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas, 30) is left guilt-ridden as he’s the one that Tyrone’s paying to do the work.

With girlfriend Fiz by his side, poor Tyrone tries to put on a brave face when he tells her: “I told you it would get messy if we got the builders in.”

In scenes to be screened next month, Jason replies: “Less of the wisecracks, save your energy. The ambulance is on its way, don’t worry.”

I hope they really transform it from the Jack and Vera shrine it is at the moment. They could stick a picture of the Duckies on the wall though - that would be a better tribute to the characters IMO (and it's not totally unbelievable that Tyrone would do something like that seeing as they were his parents/grandparents in all but name).


I agree. The least they could do is repaint it in a more muted colour. I can't understand why Corrie has been stuck in this clingy nostalgia for the last few years (and this is coming from a fan of old Corrie!!). Look at the mess they made of the Rovers where they simply recreated the same 1986 decor. Many of Corrie's sets desperately need dragging into 2014.

Its a joke that comes from Terry Duckworth, he called Tyrone 'Tirrone' and it stuck

I agree about the cladding, even Jack and Vera repainted that over the year, I understand that a storyline established that its probably too expensive to remove, but they could paint it, and personalise the house more.

Oh great, so we'll have more episodes of Fiz wailing about Tirrone for weeks on end. Couldn't the writers have the ceiling (along with a very heavy copper boiler tank) fall on her instead and have done with it?!

I find that irritating too. Things that were once funny can get old and boring very quickly, especially the guy who writes "Philith" in all his posts. YAWN!!!

Or because it's a nickname (used in the show I might add). I always call Tyrone 'Tirrone' now, thanks to Terry, same as I always call Terry 'R'Terreh' because thats what Jack and Vera used to call him. Not trying to be witty, just using established nicknames for the characters that are used by most fans. No need to attack other posters because you don't like the nicknames used.

I share that opinion and stand by my view that's it's not very funny or original and by the way, most fans don't use them, just the same old people on here all the time. It is a forum and we are allowed to express our views. If you feel offended and attacked because I don't think you have a very good sense of humour, you are obviously far too sensitive to be reading the forums.

As regards the accident it answers a question......I saw some ED and CS actors doing a bike ride shown on the local news, they were cycling from CS to ED and as it showed the street behind them I could see a skip in front of one of the houses wondered which house it was.
Thank goodness Jack and Vera's is finally being refurbished. Although like a couple of other posters have said it does mean we are going to get 'Fizz in distress' mode

It's going to be interesting how this will affect Jason and the builders yard, I bet that it's all going to be down to Todd being lazy.

We can live in hope but as for me I think Fiz has become unredeemable.

Poor Jason I can just imagine him feeling so guilty over this although if it is Todd's fault I doubt he (Todd) will have any feelings of guilt whatsoever
