Coronation Street - The Nazir family.
So what are we thinking of Corrie's newest family so far?
Kal has been around for awhile. But I still have this uncertain feeling about him. I liked his and Nick's friendship much more than his and Leanne's relationship. It was nice to see Nick have someone other than his family for a change so it's a shame it's went so pear shaped. Jimi is a fantastic actor so I can't wait until they start giving him some depth and helping us understand him. I think he has potential, but at the moment is just a bit meh. It doesn't help that as a character Leanne is exhausted from all the drama over the past few years so mixing him with her to create drama just leaves me blank. Sharif has been in the background so far, but I find him kind of fascinating. I love the way he just watches everything, takes it all in and steps in when needs be. He has a real alpha male quality about him. I think him and his wife could have a really interesting dynamic. I also love the way he dotes on his granddaughter, and the way he handles Gail, Dev and Katie at the gym. I want to learn more about his health issues, and want him to make friends with someone a bit unusual, like Norris. Alya is my favorite of the family so far. I love how strong, independent and confident she is in herself and her opinions, yet around her family she mellows and hides her lifestyle. The actress is very good and brings something very warm to the character. I also hope she and Gary become a couple. She and Mikey North have such strong chemistry and Mikey is one of my favorite actors so it'd be good to see him in a relationship bouncing off a strong actress. Not an Izzy fan. Think she could be one to watch. I think the drama of the family is yet to come as the clip on Yasmeen's character page proves. She seems like a right fire cracker, it's great seeing someone put Leanne in her place and I think she could be in the mold of Corrie's classic strong women. It's also interesting that Zeedan is reluctant to meet Leanne, his relationship with Kal and Alya could make really interesting viewing. It will help that Qasim Akhtar had developed into a very good actor by the end of Shameless. So although the jury is still out on Kal, I think this family have masses of potential and could become another Corrie classic unit. |

Kal is just so, so dull, I don't care for this family at all so far. I hope Leanne gets bored with him soon, he's going to drag her down. Sharif is played by a good actor, he could be a good alpha male now Owen's misplaced his testicles, but he'll have to distance himself from that son of his. Not impressed so far with Alya either, just not interested in stories involving Gary and Izzy. I sense painful viewing on the horizon.

Perhaps they'll all move into the gym, after all there's plenty of space.

I quite like Sharif and would like to see more of him but Kal is as wooden as a wooden thing - just bloody awful - which is odd, as Jimi Mistry is usually a good actor. It must be the script or something but as things are at the moment, I'd rather he just run off and keep on running. Not too sure about Kal's daughter yet; I'll have to give her a bit more time. |

Can't warm to any of them Kal comes across as very selfish and ruthless underneath the nice guy bravado - having an affair with your so-called mates wife is a horrible thing to do. The dad seems really creepy and the daughter a right bitch. She's got a real sense of arrogance about her the daughter and her taking the moral high ground over Gary was laughable. "I don't do one night stands" pull the other one love, she picked up a bloke in a nightclub and took him back to her place. Hopefully the mother and son make a better first impression because the three onscreen already seem incredibly unlikeable.

I just can't get pas Kal's eyebrows. I'm really annoyed that he's been sold as CS's latest sex-god when he's just a podgy bad actor with caterpillars on his face.

None of them have particulary interested me so far. I find kal so wooden and boring. His dad has come across as irritating and his daughter will change.
Shes come into it as a fun party girl with a strong sense of morals. Give it two months and she will be sleeping with half the street and be a completely different character to who she is now. When did kals wife die? I always assumed it was when the kids were young but the way he was talking made it sound quite recent. |

Like them apart from Kal. I still don't like him, maybe he'll grow on me.
