Production subtitles on animated episodes
Verence

The animated episodes on the DVD releases of The Ice Warriors, The Tenth Planet and The Moonbase don't have production subtitles on them whereas those on The Invasion do.

Does anyone know why that is??

I've just found something funny on one of the reviews for The Tenth Planet on amazon.com, and it is funny. They say:

"The one minor criticism for the reproduction of the three surviving episodes is that once again, the picture has been cleaned and enhanced to a state way beyond it's original transmission format. It's now just too good. As a result, we can clearly see the eyes of the actors playing the Cybermen and worse, the sellotape holding their helmets together is on full, vivid display. 405 line TV definition in monochrome would never have picked either of these things up at the time. "

Ha! Ha!

Anyway, getting back to the topic in hand. Maybe the BBC felt that as the real filmed episode is missing, they didn't think that production subtitles would be appropriate.

Who knows?

invasion animation was completed quite a fair bit ahead of time so there was time to do production notes. The other animations were completed not long before release date so there was no time to research write out timings and other work that would be required with the animated episodes.

That makes sense..

I suppose it also explains why there were no extras on Enemy Of The World and Web Of Fear??

Aparently, there has been talk of special editions of Web of Fear and Enemy of the World coming out either later this year, or early next year. Complete with extras this time!
