Reflecting on The true Emmerdale. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

The 1975 one was the one I remember fondly... Holidays and sick days from school at my Nanas and Granddads... Emmerdale in the afternoon... Ahhh...

Thanks for the link. I really vividly remember the 1998 ones now having watching them back

I have said one another thread just moments ago that I like the new credit but actually I love the 2005 one. With the music and the pictures it's fantastic.

Is it just me or does anyone else miss the old Emmerdale opening credits/theme tune?
I do! The current one sounds like it's been remixed for the Soap Awards

Just happened upon a clip of Wilks' funeral actually. Sadly, the full episode isn't online but I think this appears to be another example of the "genuineness" the OP was talking about that is lacking from soaps these days. No over the top dialogue and the majority of the emotion coming from facial expression.

Yeah that's good. So believable, it's definitely like they weren't acting on there
We don't need explosive funerals, strip away all the unnecesaieies and you can produce some of the finest 'drama' for years to come

What a fantastic episode, I can't handle it. I loved Jack, one of the best soap characters ever. I think you're right OP however Jack was such a great character, richly associated with Emmerdale that I think a character like that demands an episode like this.
He definitely did deserve that
Alan did too though, the longest serving actor of the soap

I have to admit, if Clive died now though, I can't imagine we would get anything near the quality we got like Clive did a few years ago
It just gets merged and turned into some big slanging match with some younger characters and a big secret revealed. It's like they don't think we have the maturity to sit through an episode without those kinds of things
