Quarter Final | Argentina v Belgium | 5 July | ITV 5pm KO
Venue: Estadio Nacional de Brasilia, Brasilia
Whichever teams wins, they will go to the next stage of the tournament called the "Semi-Finals" Both teams will be looking to win by scoring more goals than their opponents. For example, if Belgium score 2 goals and Argentina score 3, then Argentina win because they scored one more goal than Belgium. Goals are scored by placing the ball into between the two goal posts, with the ball crossing the line. Please gain joy and merriment from the match! |

Argentina start as favourites, but I wouldn't consider a Belgium win to be a shock result. Both of these two have flattered to deceive.

Belgium did finally turn up v USA and with better finishing could've scored a few. Argentina will probably start as favourites, mainly because of Messi, but Belgium winning wouldn't be a shock for me.

The last time these two met in the WC was in the semi-finals in 1986. Argentina won 2-0 (both goals by Mardaona).
Its time for revenge... But I doubt Belgium will get it. |

Adrian Chiles said James Rodriguez has the golden boot wrapped up. He must be mad, Messi could easily get a hatrick tomorrow and overtake him.

He is certainly more than capable of scoring another three or four goals, it is usually at this stage that the top scorers break away.

Argentina: Romero; Zabaleta, Demichelis, Garay, Basanta; Biglia, Mascherano, Di Maria; Lavezzi, Messi, Higuain
Belgium: Courtois; Alderweireld, Van Buyten, Kompany, Vertonghen; Witsel, Fellaini; De Bruyne, Mirallas, Hazard, Origi Origi starts upfront for Belgium, big call. |

I think every time Fellaini and Fred play in this tournament they must lose £5m off their pre-season transfer values.

Belgium to win this match if they have 11 committed, hard working players on the pitch. But they have picked Fellaini, who has been shocking in far too many matches in which he has played since September 2013. If he turns up as a player and not as a ball watcher, then Belgium could win this comfortably.

I can see Belgium doing some damage today, especially if Hazard and Lukaku are on form.

No Rojo for Argentina is a surprise. I think he's been their best player bar Messi and maybe Mascherano.

Belgium have been incredibly average so far and Argentina haven't been special. I'd suggest this could be quite dull.
Cue the complete opposite...

I think Argentina will win this one. When Messi is on the pitch, anything can happen at any time.
Hazard has been disapointing so far, but he can pull off something special out of nothing, much like Messi. Argentina are my team in the work sweepstake so i'm going for them.2-0 Argentina |

Argentina could lose this. Kompany is a good match against Messi. Argentina need to show they are capable without their star player bailing them out in every game.

Just been looking at Argentina's record in the world cup over the past decade or so compared to England. Like Brazil, the aura surrounding Argentina obscures their actual performance.
Argentina 1998 Quarter finals 2002 Qroup stage 2006 Quarter finals 2010 Quarter finals England 1998 Round of 16 2002 Quarter finals 2006 Quarter finals 2010 Round of 16 |

Belgium definitely have the ability to cause Argentina all sorts of problems today. Hopefully they actually give it a real go unlike the French against Germany yesterday.

I think the fact that this WC is based in South America is the reason many are tipping Argentina to at least make it to the final. At least that's how it is for me, I've not really been impressed with them in recent years.

Anyone who thinks Argentina won't steamroll past Belgium is in Cuckoo Land. They've faced teams like Russia, South Korea, Algeria and USA.
This is their true test and this is where Belgium will collapse on their ass. |

Should be a good game, hopefully the teams don't cancel each other out. Argentina to just shade it.
