in all three of the quarters so far the games have been kinda ruined with the "wrong" team scoring the early goal and then trying to just shut down the game

How's that not a foul?

This ITV commentary team far better than the so-called first string.

Exactly right - and why I think all this cobblers about this being the "best World Cup ever" is nonsense. The Group stages were entertaining and the vibe around it and the passion for the event has been undoubtedly the best since my first World Cup in 1974 - probably because of where it's been held. However there have as yet been no breathtaking or revolutionary teams or titanic matches with excellent sides going toe to toe.

Neither do I agree that here have been any players who have particularly lit up the tournament, with the possible exception of Rodrigues and Robben. Have Messi and Neymar really dominated games or simply had a few superb moments amid often anonymous performances? Falcao, Eder, Socrates, Zico. Platini and Tigana did more breathtaking things in one match than we've seen in the entirety of Brazil. '82 had at least two great teams and two titanic matches that have gone down in history, 74 had the ground-breaking Holland side and Johan Cruyff, and 86 had Maradona, Platini and others.

How many of the matches we've seen will be repatedly played in 30 years time like Brazil v Italy and France v Germany? In my opinion, for those and other reasons (Northern Ireland knocking out the hosts against the odds for example) while I've enjoyed this World Cup far more than the largely disappointing international tournaments we've had in the last thirty years, '82 was a better tournament in my opinion.

another shocking cross from de bruyne , he had three in the box to aim for there as well

Messi denied, it probably won't matter, probably.

Still hasn't scored past Courtois.

Higuain man of the match for me. Belgium have had no one playing in the same class as him and the intermittently impressive Messi.

Wish Holland had a goalkeeper as good as Courtois.

Well, not a classic, but Belgium were simply poor....

Lukaku looked like he was scared to shoot first time there. So he took another touch and then delivered a dreadful cutback.

that was a good block from garay there from the dink back across the box by lukaku , there were 2 Belgians just waiting to roll it in if he had missed it

Yes, Holland remain the most impressive team in the world cup for me and have a brilliant manager.

You knew Belgium lost the match as soon as they started to hoof it to Fellaini.
