I think she did try at first. My respect for her when he was in Hospital and the few weeks after he came home really increased simply because I did think she was taking the 'in Sickness and In Health' vow seriously. She was in a difficult situation when his brain damage caused him to be violent - nobody should have to stay in (or have their child stay in) a home that isn't safe even if the aggression is beyond the attackers control.
But...where my sympathy stops is that she had fallen out of love with Nick (as confirmed by Jane Danson at the time) and wasn't honest about it. yes he ended the marriage but only did it out of love for Leanne because he didn't want to hurt her and it was clear he hoped that when he recovered fully they would reconcile (this was also confirmed by Ben Price at the timme). No way did Nick expect her to move on to a new man (his friend and trainer to boot) within weeks of them splitting and whilst it has only come out in the open now, 6 months after the split, Kal and Leanne's flirtation did begin within weeks back in March.
She should have been honest with him that she no longer loved him (and let's be honest, she didn't love him that much in the first place - she told Stella she was with him because he loved her more than she loved him so he wouldn't be able to hurt her like Peter had) and the marriage was over whether he recovered and got back to being 'old' Nick or not. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she was trying to be kind but I actually think she was just taking the easy way out and happy to be the 'victim' that had been dumped by the husband they'd stood by.
She has declared that half the Bistro is hers which doesn't seem fair to me as she put no investment into it (unless she invested the money she got from the Bookies in which case she is due that back and a share of the profits whilst she worked there). She has declared that she won't back down from the War. Well, she has to expect him to use all ammo available to him in that War - she can't expect him to 'play nice' and now bring her past into it when he feels so utterly betrayed - and that, rightly or wrongly (rightly imo) is what he does feel.
