I hope this one goes the same way as Phil/Derek and just not spoken about again.

I got very disgusted in the scene in the hairdressers when Dean was massaging Linda's head.

Are these kinds of warped sexual advances the thing EE wants to make a story about?

There will certainly be a media backlash, akin to the baby swap storyline.

How is it incest?
I am not going to lie but when Dean hugged her and him massaging her head made me cringe.

Hopefully Linda has enough nouse to see it for what it is and put the maggot back in his place. it seems to me, he is deliberately going for linda, when all she is doing is trying to bring him in to the family fold.

I dislike him so much, and wish he would leave. I don't regard him as all that as an actor either, and honestly could'nt give a monkeys left testicle about his mummy abandonment issues.

Mick should stick one on him again.

Its not incest, but it the kind of taboo relationship that EE like to throw in every now and then, can there not be one happy couple in any soap????

It seems as if I'm the only one who is interested in this upcoming sl............However,, I think it's going to make a refreshing change from all the other ordinary predictable stuff that soaps do on a weekly basis.

The hug must have had an effect on a lot of people because there were loads of posts about it the next day, and the idea that he is gradually going to become obsessed with Linda I think is going to be fresh and a little bit different. We've had Michael who was brilliant and is now sadly deceased, and then there was Lucas, who was another peculiar being, but now we've got Dean, who not only is going to (hopefully) turn a bit nutty but is gorgeous as well!

I just can't wait to see how Linda handles this when Dean starts to notch it up a bit more..

And slightly off topic, but did anyone appreciate the hat he wore the other night??

I wasn't disgusted at the hair massaging scene, just upset that it wasn't my head in the sink.........

And any media backlash, EE will just love and lap it up.
be more pacific

I'm not sure why you think this is so disgusting? EE and all the other soaps have shown such sexual advances many, many times before. Even the pursuit of the partners of siblings is really just standard Soapland fare.

The baby swap, however, was a cheap and tawdry twist which was inappropriate when tackling the incredibly sensitive subject of cot death.

Have you never watched EastEnders before or something? This is a tame storyline compared to some...

I really don't appreciate the hat, i think it's a divisive hat as i've seen fors and againsts.

I'm looking forward to this SL too but i don't think it's going to get as tawdry as the OP thinks, i think it's more leading to Dean having a mental health issue. Could be wrong.

I would rather have this storyline than the money issues SLs of the last few weeks.

I find the idea of the storyline a bit disgusting. This is not arson or murder, or swearing or violence.

It is creepy. Like Dean has sick fantasies about a 'mother figure' and using these as sexual purposes, whether in his head or for real.

It's like fancying your mum. It's messed up, and it's going to lead to a lot of people who have mental health issues to be bullied and wrongly castigated at work and in school for probably being ' a bit like Dean'.

It is a perfectly feasible storyline. The main problem is that it just seems to be reworking old ideas and plots. Same old same old.

Someone falls for his brother's wife...I'm pretty sure this has happened before without causing the viewers to complain to POV

It's exactly the kind of story that EE should be doing. A bit twisted and dark, like all the best soap plots. I want to see Dean manipulating the entire Carter family in different ways eventually.

I originally thought it was going to be a sort of 'hand that rocks the cradle' story - if anyone has seen that movie and that Dean was going to try and take over Mick's life..

How is she in any way a 'mother figure' to him? They're not blood related and he barely knew her before a few months ago

It's like fancying your mum?! Bloody hell, slight exaggeration. She's his aunt and not blood related, it is a bit creepy in some sense but it's nowhere near as bad as some stuff on EE before.

Eh? I think it's very interesting.

I think the Phil/Sharon/Grant storyline was worse..as was the Den/Michelle storyline, way back when these things were VERY taboo..

Indeed especially as his mum is Shirley Now that would be disgusting

I love the sinister overtones and think it has great potential.

I think the idea is to be controversial.
Sexual exploitation is in the news a lot at the mo, so its not a surprise they're going down this line.
Eastenders has always been a controversial show. To do this kinda storyline is in keeping with its heritage. And yes- I expect a kinda backlash
Its not glamourising this story- people are pretty unanimous that hes a icky creep.

I like the contrast between Dean's good looks, trendy image & breezy manner & his dark underbelly.

Once he knows Linda's secret he will be able to manipulate her. However they play this it should be good.

I agree - it's fascinating. The Michael/Ronnie obsession was done well but was too short for my liking and the Sean/Tanya one was also really good.
