Its good but we need more improvements within their character pool. For a start I do believe the Carter's are too top heavy. I don't mind Tina but Tosh is a waste of space. It may have been better had these two come in from Spring Lane rather than being connected to the Carter's. I'm not thrilled they are planning on adding to the family either. Not when brilliant characters like Terry have been axed.

It's been good...but nowhere near as amazing as some are making it out to be.

It is in the best state its been for years and the characters are great.
However there is some improvements needed, theres no need for Stacey to return or Jean for that matter, Dexter and Fatboy should be axed (Fatboy could stay so long as he stays with the Masoods), the Lucy Whodunnit is dragging on a bit, the Max and Emma SL is silly and a few other gripes, all in all good.

Recent eps have been a bit weak, but then its the lul time of the year.
You can tell theres new energy in the show & it seems to be centred around the Carters, but its radiating out generally.
There are some characters who are stuck in the mud- noticeably Phil, Max & Masood, but otherwise its going well.
Ive like the focus on Ian's grief, I know Adam Woodyatt can be a divisive actor, but to focus on grief like that & not just let it go after a couple of weeks I think has been brave. To actually front up to audience boredom like that takes guts.
My concern is that with so many multiple plots all the time they will run out of juice creatively in a year or so & plots will start to become increasingly silly.
Lets hope not eh?

The good for me has mainly been down to the Carters. They were a risk that have paid off a lot. This includes Johnny of course
Ronnie has potential if they move further with her villain storyline. I'm guessing her new pregnancy will be a catalyst for this in some way or another.

However pacing of storylines could do with work. The Lucy Beale murder storyline I have kinda lost interest in. Also there have been a lot of filler episodes recently - eg. Carol and Tina weed dealing, Alfie and Kat, the Spraggans, Bianca's money troubles, Tina and Tosh, and Aleks secret life and his relationship with Roxy. I wish there was more going on every episode related to key story lines.

It has been a little bit hit and miss recently but certain weeks have still been very good - for example last week with the Carter stuff and the week of Sharon's attack at The Albert. The Carters are blatantly the best thing about it and I think a bit more needs to be done to keep the other characters at the same sort of quality. For example, I just find it lazy that they're giving The Butchers a money trouble storyline. The cancer was a strong enough storyline to carry that family, they didn't need to overegg the pudding. And I don't like how much Tina has been thrust down our throat - by far the weakest of the Carters, but probably the most focused on out of all of them.

Generally though I'm really enjoying it. It's a solid Good with aspects of Fantastic and aspects of Average.

Started off brilliant/very good, but went down to average within two months. We'll see how the rest of the summer goes but at current rates, it's feeling like they have actually closed for summer.

Mostly good thanks to the Carters, they have been a total breath of fresh air and I am so looking forward to more brilliant stories involving them.

Things seemed to be looking up for Kat and Alfie at the beginning of the year but with Kat being missing Alfie seems to have gone downhill as a character and hopefully things will get better once the twins are born.

Dom is ultimately a storyteller so he's been successful in the sense he has told a lot of stories. However, that is also his weakness.

Average. EastEnders has been much better than this in the past. It hasn't become gripping viewing for me and I've already tired of some of the frankly dull "big storylines" like Lucy's murder and Carol's cancer as well as the terminally boring filler episodes which wouldn't be out of place in the Newman era.

DTC's greatest success so far is in characterisation. He's getting all the characters spot on. The only thing they need are better storylines. I'm also not too fond of all these surprise plot twists. Most of them have left me cold and uninterested so far. I'm not suggesting calling a stop to them but they need to have more impact.

After all the hype surrounding his arrival I'm underwhelmed. The show is becoming EastCarters and Lucy's murder has become boring even to the other characters who are strangely uninterested and unconcerned that a killer is on the loose in their neighbourhood. Disappointingly the misogynistic tendency of the past few years for female characters to be childlike, bullies or bitter victims remains unchanged.

The Carter's are the dominant family but I I like them, I would like to see Nancy have her own storyline and to see Tosh go and have Aunt Babe back permanently.

I mentioned that the show is too white at the moment and Scrabbler raised a very valid point that three of the weakest characters in the show Tosh, Dexter & FatBoy are ethnic characters, I think Tosh will be gone by the end of the year plus Dexter and FatBoy too- I would bring back Zainab and rebuild the Fox family.

Roxy seems to be going around in circles and I am not sure about Alfie now- he seems a spent force.

I think a new ethnic minoriTy family, with big storylines, plus maybe building up Aleks's family would be good. It needn't be his wife & kid, could be a cousin or bruv/sister. I wouldn't object to the Fox' s being built up either.

It's very up and down for me. Certainly better than last year but there have been some good weeks and some dreadful ones where I wonder why I'm wasting my time.
