So there has been a lot of talk that Eastenders needs to do more to represent the multicultural society we live in. However it already boasts a large cast and therefore some of the existing characters would need to leave.

The Beales and Mitchells cannot be axed as that would damage the show. The Carter's are new and fresh and there is lots of potential for them. Then there is the Branning/Jackson's who also have mileage left in them.

But it's a different story for Kat, Alfie and co. No one wants to see Kat cheat again ir see Alfie conduct another failed business attempt. They have been through so much in a short space of time that they have simply run out of steam. Mo has been replaced by Cora and Babe, we don't need three gangster granny's on the square. As for Stacey, while I did once adore the character is also exhausted.

I really do feel that axing this clan would be the best thing in the long run, it will open up spaces for four more characters who could help rejuvenate the a Foxes and Masood families.

I'd rather see the Beales, Brannings, Cora and Sharon leave.

I hope Kat stays for decades but Alfie has always dragged her down. They do work better apart.

They need to get rid of the Branning and the Jackson clan before getting rid of the Moons.

I wish there was a "Dont know" option as I am in 2 minds.
I certainly think the Moons are tired & alfie has been relegated to a glorified extra recently (largely down to Jesse Wallace being away from the show).
I think their heyday is over & I dont relsih the return of Stacey BUT- there is mileage for drama from them when they have kids, & having Stacey return might add tension to the relationships, so there is a bit of extra mileage.
But I agree they seem a bit lost under the new regime. They certainly dont seem centre stage anymore.

I dont agree that the Jacksons have much mileage left. Once the cancer story is through, and Sonia has inevitably had her love triange story concluded I dont think theyve got far to go (Patsy Palmer is leaving soon)
Personally I think the Brannings could lose Max (although hes a lynchpin for the family) because as a character hes just been treading water for some time now. Its the same old same old for him- its getting boring. Pity as hes a good actor.

If any family seem like a spare part, sadly its the Masoods. As one of the ethnic families though they are unlikely to leave anytime soon. Which is kinda a pity as they seem superfluous to requirements at the mo.

I'd rather see the pathetic bunch of Brannings go first ,including the Butcher half

Ive got a suspicion that the recent quality of the storylines for Alfie Moon is the TPTB way of giving Shane the hint to quit!

His character is a spent force imo.

I think they should rebuild the slaters, bring back sean, belinda(new actress and with a husband), zoe.
They should get rid of alfie and the branning family,

The slater family would consist of:

Stacey
Kat
Sean
Jean
Belinda
Zoe
Mo

I'm not a big fan of the Slaters-Moons, they are a bit stale now and add nothing to the show imo. I'm one of the minority who is not looking forward to Stacey's return, the only good thing to come out of is, is Jean reappearing. The Carters, Mitchells, Masoods and Cottons are my core families.

Keep them. Mo is better than Cora IMO. I do think they serve a purpose for now at least - with a parraell betwen Kat and Shirley and Alfie being Mick's friend, they could play a role there, plus in the Beale's storyline with the twins on the way.

A realistic portrayal of how difficult it is raising twins at their ages could also be good viewing.

I see less reason for them to leave now than I saw in 2010-12 to be honest. At least they are resembling the characters that left in 2005 now.

I love Kat and Alfie and would like them to stay but I do agree that Kat/Jessie being missing has meant that Alfie his been pushed into the background and he has been a bit of a plonker lately with the silly get rich quick schemes and interfering in Roxy and Aleks' relationship but hopefully he will get better storylines soon.

I think that once the babies arrive and Stacey and Jean arrive the family will be rejuvenated.

No no and no
They're a legendary EE family, getting rid of them by choice would be ridiculous

No Way!!!

The Slaters have been through some really good stories, a good family!
I'd love if they would rebuild them, the family still has lots to give, I'd like Jean to come back full time!

I like Alfie, Always have, he should stay! Kat and Alfie are really popular outside of DS, and reminds me of the great moments of watching EastEnders during childhood!

What they need to do is get rid of the pointless fast food eating, car fixing, kidney bean, small cock Dexter, and bring back Zainab to complete the Masoods!

Kat and Alfie should never have returned in the first place. Their story was concluded. All that has happened is that their return storylines have pissed all over the great ending they got in 2005. The Alfie character was always an annoyance but he has reached new levels of irritation this time around. Kat used to be great but her chracterisation is dreadful these days. She's one of the few characters DTC has completely gotten wrong and after the hatchet job Kirkwood did on her it only took an instant to undo Newman's Kat redemption. Jessie's acting has been pretty poor of late. A lot less than she's capable of. If sentimentality were to be taken out of the equation then it's obvious there's nowhere left for these characters to go. I'd also get rid of the abysmally repetitive Big Mo and put a stop to Stacey's undoubted car crash in the making of a return. The Slaters are over. The Moons never were.

The Moon's were extremely popular when they were introduced as Alfie, Spencer and Nana back in 2002 - 2005.

Kat - Stay! In fact, I wouldn't be against a rebuilding of the Slater family with Stacey returning and Mo back more often I'd love to see Charlie back and maybe one of the other sisters, Lynn preferably.

Alfie - GO! GET RID! GOODBYE! Was never that good of a character in the first place but he's been awful this time around, bring Kat down and actually has the ability to ruin entire episodes just by him being in it.
