It may just be that I don't have many friends, but none of my friends watch Big Brother and so I've got no-one to talk to about it! This year I've found myself getting pretty infuriated, so I've been lurking here for a while. It seems a pretty friendly place and surprisingly troll-free, so I thought I'd say hello and share my thoughts
After last week's eviction (Toya) I threw a hissy fit and cancelled my series link to BB. (I reinstated it two days later!)
I couldn't believe Ash hadn't been evicted. It really got to me because it seemed so overwhelmingly unjust. In his original VT he made a big deal about being lazy and through the series he's shown just how arrogant and selfish he really is. His world is a simple one: there are models and there are maggots. I really wanted to believe the British public would be as sickened by this as I was. But they weren't.
And again this week! The house is divided into the clique who see themselves as better than everyone else and entitled to be privileged by virtue of their looks, and everyone else. Ash doesn't believe this other group should even be on the show. He was outraged that anyone had the temerity to nominate him.
Steven strikes me as pretty odious. He's clearly spoilt, despite having screwed over his family. His showmance with Kimberley is embarrassing to watch. She clearly has zero interest in him yet he can't see that. I suspect he's fallen in love with the idea of dating a model and adding that to the list of things he sees himself as entitled to, by virtue of being better than everyone else. There's a slightly sinister control-freak thing going on with him. I really don't know what Kimberley is up to.
I hated Danielle to start with. Her religious views strike me as at best bizarre -- she thinks the world is only 6,000 years old -- and at worst offensive: her opposition to gay marriage, for example. She's a peculiar set of contradictions. Why would someone with her beliefs become a lingerie model? Equally, why is a lingerie model so hopeless at making herself up. She looked bloody awful during last week's eviction night. The whole virgin thing may well be true: she has the sophistication of a 12 year old when it comes to Winston.
I've changed my view on Helen, too. I actually just feel terribly sorry for her. She's ****ed up her life and feels trapped and helpless. As a result she lashes out like a baby. I see Ash as a genuinely nasty person. Helen is just hopelessly ****ed up and needs therapy. Appearing on BB is the worst thing she could have done, unless she realises that she needs professional help.
Jale has had an interesting transformation. She's managed to go from outcast to being on the edge of the alpha group. She won't be able to ride their coat-tails to the final.
The rest don't really interest me. Mark is entertaining and also brave -- he had the integrity to call out Ash after he called Jale a maggot. That was impressive. Is Winston really that stupid? Marlon bores me: there's nothing about him at all. Are Chris and Christopher still in the house? I really don't care.
Oh, and Ashleigh. The girl who suddenly grew up. Real fast. Meh.
I watch BBBOTS, too. I'm really impressed by Rylan as a presenter. Very fluid and confident. Very quick, very sharp. Emma? Meh. Big fan of Luisa, even though she drove me mad during CBB. And really enjoy listening to Denise: she really seems to understand people. (Oh, and thank God Davina's no longer involved. Couldn't stand her. Came across as utterly fake.)
Well, thanks for reading
Glad to have got it all out of my system.
Now to settle down to watch tonight's (Saturday's) episode.
