Here is an email I have received off Edith herself. One of the main reasons I back her. She is a celeb but very mush a human being.

Go on the Bowman

Nice email.

It's just a shame that she comes across as such a miserable cow on TV

I think she's genuinely just terrified... the confidence is coming though...

Anyone think that no matter what the song, she always has the same facial expression?

what this one. . Well she gives me that facil expression anyways.

Another great performance for me and once she shakes that sore throat we should get something v special. Also liking Reggie for the 1st time tonight.

She's very brave. David spent a long time on getting her breathing right to get around the cough and she still went for the high note - as Lesley said thats brave. Kim, Dawn and Debra all opted not to risk their range - if you watched the lessons they tried things and rejected them as too risky either in the lesson or the show. deborah took on a lot but she didn't risk the whole package.

I think she's better with Carrie. David spends a long long time on motivation wheras Carrie spends more time on going through the song with the piano and particularly going through it at a slow pace - Edith was good at improvising and getting into the emotion doing that and David just spends less time on it. Carrie also seems better to me at adding highlights wheras David seems to me to go for getting through it?

I'm not convinced that Edith risked so much. There was a lot of buildup about her sore throat etc, and that seemed to be what Lesley had in mind; but before she sang, Edith said she was fine, and her voice didn't seem to give her any trouble.

Apart from that, I agree.

I think all of the ones who were good at the start ought to try to give us something exceptionally good by the end, and that means taking some risks.

Unfortunately, the harsh comments of some of the judges are influencing them in exactly the wrong way. For instance, Richard's comments yesterday seemed to be messing with Kim's head and wrecking her confidence.

Remember Richard being told: you tell them to do something different, and when they do, you slap them down.

Yes I liked her hair. I heard Moyles say that the other day on his Breakfast show and he was right. I pi**ed myself laughing when he said that somtimes you can't tell the difference between her and Colin . When she's wearing a t-shirt and jeans I don't think she looks very pretty but when she makes an effort she looks beautiful.

I've seen a lot of Edith on tv (different show on MTV, lots of RI:SE), and I don't agree that she's a beauty when she puts in the effort.

She can look good, sometimes pretty; nothing more.

I thought she looked beautiful tonight too!

But i get the feeling she's not comfortable with "beautiful" or being "glammed up".

She seemed far more comfortable when she ruined it with that ridiculous hat for the group song.

It's like you graffitied on my thread. Edith is great no need to take the tone there.

Ah but that is beauty all subjective, I personally don't follow the ideals of fashion and all that.

Only partly. And it's also partly cultural (but that's not subjective).

Anyway, when I read that someone looks beautiful "when she puts in the effort" or was "just absolutely stunning tonight", I expect her to look like someone who would ordinarily be considered beautiful. I don't expect to still have to make "some might find her beautiful" allowances.

Or put it this way: there's supposed to be only one reason she's not normally considered beautiful (that she doesn't normally put in the effort), not two reasons.

Well as she mentioned in live streaming, it's not about all taking it seriously yes the hat a point of riidcule making fun of. Shes having fun, good one her. Though I didn't actually see that hat, missed that bit though.

This morning she couldn't sing it because she kept on coughing when she sang. According to Carrie and David you had to get the breathing right anyway for that song as it moves so fast and she was coughing when she needed to breath. Adding something extra when you couldn't sing it at all 8 hours earlier is ptretty brave. Its no wonder she didn't try and move too - though as she said you would look silly (schizophrenic?) moving around singing a duet to yourself.

You are precisely right about risk taking. Richard talkes a lot of the blame for discouraging people from doing new things. Kim has declined doing things that were risky she had worked up because she isn't confident and can't accept the risk of being slated. Edith had a nice high highlight she wotked up with carrie two days ago but didn't use it - which is another reason why putting one in today with a more difficult song and a cough I think was brave.
