EE - Does anyone find it annoying that Kat never mentions Zoe anymore?

I know Zoe is living abroad but she is Kat's daughter. She never mentions Zoe anymore and it looks like they are not in touch...

It is strange I agree Zoe seems to have been forgotton.

I wonder if we will get a mention that she sent a card or something after Kat has her twins

Biancas another one never mentions Ricky I don't even think she's uttered his name to Ricky and its strange Terry's never inquired about him

Kat seems to be more concerned about Stacey who has not that much related to her than her own daughter. I think they should bring back Zoe possibly as a recasted role if Michelle Ryan is not willing or available to reprise it. They could even do some Skype scenes between Kat and Zoe like they did with Denise and Kim. It would add more authenticity and they even might get away with off screen skype chats like the one between Linda and Lee Carter when the Carter clan first arrived and prior to the casting of Lee.

Also there's very little references to Little Mo,Lynne, Belinda and Charlie. Very unrealistic!

Kat's character practically revolved around Zoe during her first stint, so it's especially ridiculous that she now seems to have been erased from existence. I don't see why she can't be mentioned from time to time, especially with Kat being pregnant again.

I find it very weird. She's only been mentioned a handful of times and seemed to be wiped out of existence to facilitate Berkwood's contrived Kat and Michael in Spain rubbish. Her daughter lives there, she would have gone to her. Not even a sympathy card from her when Tommy 'died.' Lazy writing.

Zoe recently turned 30 and yet, not a mention. We should have at least seen Zoe call to invite Kat to Spain for the occasion, but Kat making her apologies, not wanting to fly because of the twins.

The lack of mention that surprised me the most was during Newman's tenure, as Newman understood Kat's character, for all her faults. The affair storyline although largely under her tenure was left in progress by the man who destroyed Kat within an episode or two of her return. People got sick of her bringing Harry up but as 2013 was about Kat confronting her demons, I can't believe the 30th anniversary of the abuse wasn't mentioned. It may have earned her some sympathy.

Another one that got on my nerves was no mention of Zoe during the trial storyline. Had we been reminded of the fact that Stacey made a false statement for Zoe, Kat's involvement might not have gone down quite as badly as it did.

Little Mo is the most ridiculous one. I don't think she's had a single mention, except from seeing her name in Kat's phone and on her Skype list. Kat comes back pregnant by Alfie's cousin and neither of them mention the fact that Alfie once had an affair with L Mo. That makes perfect sense...

Alfie and Kat had broken up by the time he started Molfie, she wasn't even on screen from what I can remember for part of it, think JW was on maternity leave, so wasn't really a affair and I don't think it was that serious, it was really a badly conceived idea on the EP, don't think it went down well.

She was yes, however it surprised me that there wasn't even a question from him as to whether this was revenge. After Kat's return, there was a month or so where he was seeing both of them while he tried to decide which one he wanted.

Not really. Most of the Slaters are out of the programme and it would be with them that any talk of Zoe would come up. Also, Kat never brought her up as her mother, they were brought up as sisters and there are a fair few sisters in the Slaters so no it doesn't surprise me or annoy me.

I agree. Kat's entire character arc in her first era revolved Zoe. It's ridiculous that she barely references her these days. To be honest I've gone right off Kat since she came back. Her so called redemption under Newman ended the minute she took the stand and lied though her teeth in order to lock Alice up and free Stacey. I just don't believe in the character anymore. Jessie's acting has become awkward, stilted and confusing again too. I couldn't tell what her reaction to Carol last week was all about. Was she feeling guilty about Alice or feeling sorry for Carol?

I think having two children 30 years apart is awkward enough to be honest.

Kat's not the worst offender for that, Kathy Beale/Mitchell is. Donna Ludlow c. 1964 and Ben Mitchell in 1996. Not really their faults though, they were both raped and not like say Demi and Lola who had underage sex without taking precautions.

I didn't understand that either. It was weird. I kept waiting for an explanation but it never came.???

I do agree with this. Zoe was the making of Kat. Some reference to one of EEs best ever stories would work wonders for Kat instead of turning her into a bullying sleazy slapper. Uttter hatchet job.

I think it's a case of bad continuity. Writers don't seem to have a 'bible' anymore of things about a character. If Zoe was never mentioned again, those viewers, for arguments sake, that never saw the Zoe storyline, wouldn't even know she ever existed.

It's the same with the sisters too. Lynne and little Mo are mentoned when they seem to remember they exist and not dead.

I think it might be just out of sight out of mind again. It happens a lot on soap.

I think she was feeling guilty that the stall isn't making as much money because of her being on maternity leave so the Butchers are in financial trouble.

I agree it wasn't very clear though and if she really wanted to help shee'd have told Carol to go to a half decent jewelers who'd be bound to give her a better price than Mo (who will rip her own family off let alone neighbours) and Fat Elvis!

Is it really necessary to mention every person tho? I love a good throwback as much as anyone else but hearing things like 'zoe sent me a card' would not really do much for me... If a character told us every time that they'd spoken to someone we'd have little time for plot development.

Maybe they should recast Zoe as the original actress doesn't want to come back.

Not every person but this is her daughter. Just ridiculous that they lived in Spain and never mentioned seeing her, plus a landmark birthday like 30 (which was in February) should really be mentioned. We didn't even get the usual apologies to explain why she couldn't make her brother's supposed funeral.

If they think of good enough storylines to justify bringing Zoe back then yeah there should be a recast. No way should characters come to an end just because one particular actor doesn't want to know anymore.
