Scottish singer Amy Macdonald is apparently on the Strictly Come Dancing producers' wishlist to take part in its third series, due to begin later this month.

The "This Is The Life" singer is said to be thrilled to have received the offer and is expected to agree to participate in order to raise her profile in time for releasing her fourth album later this year.

Macdonald has released three albums, all of which have reached the top five in the United Kingdom. As a folk singer, she is a far cry from pop divas Faye Tozer in series one and Natasha Bedingfield in series two, who both reached the final two in their respective series. Could Amy follow in their footsteps?

BBC Radio 1 presenter Scott Mills is the latest celebrity rumoured to be taking part in the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. A source close to the producers said that "Scott would be a fantastic addition to the Strictly line up. He has a broad appeal and is sure to bring in new audiences to the show."

Meanwhile, Great British Bake Off presenter and comedienne Mel Giedroyc is said to have signed a deal to take part in the series. Mel has previously spoken about her love of the show and her desire to take part.

If this rumour is true, Mel would follow in the footsteps of fellow Great British Bake Off presenter and close friend Sue Perkins, who participated in the last series with Artem Chigvintsev, finishing in eighth place.

The BBC have today confirmed that Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will both return to present the new series of celebrity dance contest Strictly Come Dancing.

Bruce Forsyth previously hosted alongside Daly up until 2013, when the show was re-branded as Back To The Ballroom. Since then, Daly and Winkleman have presented the show together, and have remained popular enough to return for its third series.

Zoe Ball is expected to return to present sister show Behind The Ballroom along with former professional dancer Anton Du Beke.

Former world number one tennis players Steffi Graf and Boris Becker - both from Germany - are reportedly set to sign up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing later this month.

Graf, 45, is arguably the best female tennis player of all time, winning twenty two grand slam singles titles. She is reported to have signed up in order to raise awareness of her charity "Children For Tomorrow". A source close to the show said that producers are "giddy" at the thought of her taking part, naming her a "major coup" for the show.

Becker, 46, is said to have agreed to participate in order to lose weight and to raise his profile as a tennis coach. Becker began coaching Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic in 2013.

Graf and Becker join a long list of rumoured celebrities, including Mel Giedroyc, Amy Macdonald and Michael Owen.

Producers of pro-celebrity dance contest Strictly Come Dancing are apparently looking to shake up the judging panel, in order to attract new audiences. The panel currently consists of Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli.

Goodman, 70, has previously said he doesn't know how much longer he will be on the show. Earlier this year, he stated "I'm now 70. I won't be able to do live shows every week for much longer. Sooner or later I'll lose my pickled walnuts!"

Meanwhile, Bruno Tonioli is said to be in trouble with producers after being given two warnings last series for inappropriate language during the show's pre-watershed run.

The BBC will confirm the judging panel later this week. The corporation is also expected to confirm the professional dancers participating in this series later today.

For the first time in Strictly Come Dancing's run, an actor currently appearing in an ITV soap is to appear as a contestant in the series. ITV bosses previously banned all of their soap actors from competing in the programme, but this ban seems to have been lifted.

Producers of the dance contest are said to be besides themselves with joy at the news and have wasted no time in inviting actors to take part. Kate Ford, who plays Coronation Street bitch Tracy Barlow, is apparently top of the producers' wishlist. Ford would follow Julie Hesmondhalgh - who played Hayley Cropper - who finished in ninth place in the last series, after she had quit the soap.

Meanwhile, EastEnders actors Sam Strike, who plays Johnny Carter, and Lorna Fitzgerald, who plays Abi Branning, have also been asked to take part. Also rumoured to be taking part include tennis champion Boris Becker and Scottish singer Amy Macdonald.

There are to be no changes to the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel for the upcoming series.

Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli will all return for the new series of the pro-celebrity dancing competition, which begins this Saturday.

This confirmation comes after reports earlier in the week that Goodman was thinking of leaving due to his age, and that Tonioli may be replaced due to several warnings being given to him last series because of inappropriate language.

The new series will commence with a launch show this Saturday, where each celebrity will be paired with a professional dancer. The full line up of celebrities taking part will be revealed on Friday.

The first celebrity confirmed to be taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing is...

KATE FORD

The actress, 36, has played villain Tracy Barlow in Coronation Street since 2002. She has won numerous awards for her portrayal of Tracy, including winning the "Best Bitch" award at the British Soap Awards twice.

Kate told The Sun after the confirmation, "I can't wait to take to the Strictly dancefloor. Learning to dance so many new routines will be amazing. I can't wait to find out who my partner is!"
