After receiving positive comments from the judges for their Waltz, Amy and Kevin are out to impress with their Jive this week. Amy is struggling with her confidence this week, saying “the Waltz was fine because I was in hold with Kevin for the whole dance, but I’m really nervous for the Jive. I hate the thought of dancing on my own, while having to worry about keeping in time and remembering the steps.” Kevin is also worried, telling us “the Jive is a very difficult dance, especially so early on. I know Amy will probably struggle this week, but we’re going to try and work hard at it.” Behind The Ballroom returns tomorrow, where Zoe will be joined by Craig, to discuss the week one dances and Tim and Aliona.

Craig - Week One Performances
Hello Craig! How are you this fine evening?
I’m great! Isn’t the weather fantastic? It puts me in the mood to Salsa!
Too right - definitely more Salsa than Waltz anyway! Shall we get cracking?
Yes, okay!
So Sam and Ola performed a Cha Cha Cha on Saturday night. How did you feel about this?
I quite liked it actually. I think Sam shows a lot of promise. It wasn’t the best of the night, but it was good. I can see Sam being the underdog this series.
That’s what I said to my husband when I was watching it! I think he could be one of those contestants that slowly just passes through and snatches it at the end.
I wouldn’t be surprised!
Okay. So, what about Jane and Ian’s Cha Cha Cha?
Well, it was certainly… interesting. She put all her energy into it, and it was fun to watch. I just hope she doesn’t burn out too fast though.
Good point. I’d hate to see that happen. And finally, talk to me about Andrew and Natalie’s Waltz. Did you like it?
I thought it was a bit dull to be honest. I mean half of the scores are based on technique, footwork etc., but you have to put in a performance. And he just didn’t do that. Plus, his technique wasn’t that good either.

Yes, it’s good to be in hold and to be doing a “proper” Ballroom dance. Aliona’s choreographed us a lovely routine as well. Fingers crossed everyone likes it and picks up the phone for us!

Oh, stop kidding yourself! Now, let’s talk last week’s Waltz. You got 24 - a pretty good score for week one. Were you happy?
I was delighted. I didn’t think it would go as well as I thought it did. And the judges were perfectly pleasant, so all in all, I was happy. I’m not sure if James was though!
Were you James?
I thought the judges could have been a bit nicer with their scores, considering it was week one, but I was very happy with the performance Kate gave.
Aw, what a gentleman! So this week, a brand new dance, brand new music and routine. What are you dancing?

Oooo! How’s it going?
I’m finding it quite difficult. It’s so different to the Waltz, and it’s got such a harder technique.
How are you finding the character of it, because you have to be quite sexy, don’t you?

Right. Mel and Robin are doing a Jive this week. I think she’s finding it quite tough, but the Jive is a tricky dance.
It is quite hard, considering we’re only in week two.
Yes, but she’s got a lot of energy so I hope she puts that to good use in her dancing this week.
She’ll sail through with all that energy! Okay, what about Jane and Ian’s Tango?
Well I must say, from the clips I’ve seen, I am very impressed. I think Jane will shock quite a few people on Saturday with this dance. We did see her comedy side with her Cha Cha, but I think she’s doing a great job with this dance.
Oh, I’m looking forward to it now. How is she doing so well?
Well she has the attitude spot on. If you’ve ever seen her on Loose Women, she is hard as nails and I think she’ll be bringing that to her Tango.

After topping the leaderboard last week with their Waltz, Siva and Iveta are hoping to impress once again with their Rumba this week. Iveta talks about the pressure, saying “there is a lot of pressure. We’ve set the bar and we have to make sure we stick to it, or raise it.” Iveta feels positive about their Rumba training, saying “we have a fantastic song and I think our routine is going to be great. Siva’s finding his hip action and sexiness a bit tricky to master, but I’m sure I’ll get it out of him by Saturday night. I just hope it goes well.” Watch Siva and Iveta perform their Rumba when Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 17.00. In the meantime, you can join Zoe Ball on Behind The Ballroom tomorrow evening.

Right, first we have Jane’s Tango dress. We thought we should go for a more contemporary black colour for this dress, because her song is deep and quite haunting, but it is a modern song.
Can you tell me what it is?

Ugh, oh well! That looks fab though! What’s next?
Okay, next up it’s Amy’s Jive dress. The song she’s dancing to is a modern take on a 1950s piano Jive song. The opened out skirt also aids the dancers in a Jive because it means they can kick further out.
That’s great! I can’t wait to see that dance. And who’s last but not least?
