It's now been 180 minutes since the Netherlands last scored a goal in this tournament (penalty shoot-out aside) That Spain game seems a long, long time a go, now.

Wouldn't say it's dull as it isn't, full of action which games should be, and the crowd are great too. Some great defense and saves. Both equal at the moment. Last edited by Dix : 09-07-2014 at 22:20
Dutch making their 2nd sub already. If it does go to pens no more changes if LVG wanted Krul on again for them even if there's injurys/red card/protect a 1-0 lead.

In all seriousness, though, this match seems to me to sum up the fact that in pure footballing terms, the knockout stages of this World Cup have generally been disappointing.

Clive left out the best bit about that Argentina chant. The original is 'Brasil, decime que se siente' (tell me how it feels) but now they sing 'Brasil, decime que se siete' which is the Spanish for seven.
Just wondering, whats stopping Holland bringing on Krull just before penalties, say stick him on in midfield, then use both him and the other keeper "randomly" for the pens ?

Nothing, according to the FIFA rules:
Quote: “Any player remaining on the pitch may act as goalkeeper, and it is not required that the same player act as goalkeeper throughout the shoot-out.”
